I have been there. When I had the scrotum removed something got nicked. It took about 3 months for things to look normal again. This is a very scary event. Since there is nothing that one can do to put pressure on the area.

All the tissue in that area is pretty elastic. Thus it will all fill with blood pretty easily. Also once it clots it is difficult to get out.

This is something that everyone contemplating surgery on this area should know.

In a word, sue.

If you can't, wait a few years then hunt him down and beat the shit out of him.

I prefer to wait 5, really. They tend to forget.

When Felix Spector cut me in 2000, he missed a bleeder and sent me back to the hotel with a leak. I nearly bled out internally. Three days in ICU and general recovery. I had hematoma from chest to knees. Scrotum the size of a softball. Surgeon removed 350 cc of clots from scrotum. I wish I only looked as bad as the pics here. Spector was forcibly retired a very short time later. I was fortunate in that the hematoma cleared fairly quickly with no kidney or other damage other than surgical scarring. Be careful who you let work on you - this guy was doctor beyond the need to retire.

Seeing these pictures makes me glad I never tried to do anything like this on my own. This was done by someone who at least went to medical school and had a license. Yet I have had conversations online where I was told the cutter is taking the biggest risk.

I am prepared to question the notion that there is nothing that can be done to put pressure on the area. After my orchiectomy, in 1986, I used double or triple female-style undersized undergarments (which do not provide space for testicles or scrotal hematomas) along with regularly changed sterile pads to provide gentle, yet adequate, compression for the post-surgical area. My orchiectomy was done after work one day, and I was back at work the next day without any complications. It does help to have a very skilled doctor do the surgery, especially one who is very familiar with effective hematoma prevention. Also, I have previously mentioned the use of "boy shorts" for area compression purposes.
