"Will it hurt?" a sequel
Back in 2005 an author signing himself/herself "Artistic Licence" posted "Will it hurt". To summarise this, 10-year-old Stefan's pet dog is becoming a nuisance with females (human as well as canine) so the little boy takes him to be castrated by the town vet Doc Barnes, reputedly a pillar of the community. The Doc surreptitiously gives Stefan a quick-acting general anaesthetic and castrates him too.
There was a lot of subsequent correspondence - what will happen when the little boy finds out, and did the Doc make a habit of it?
My sequel, with apologies to "Artistic Licence" if he/she is still around, addresses these questions. It will no doubt appear when Cainanite has time to deal with it.

I prefer the simplicity of ArtisticLicence story. The story was a present for StefanIsMe about one of his nightmare fears. C van D's story has a complete different style and doesn't fit to the first and original. Does not feel good, sorry.

It has already been added to the Fiction Archive.

I read it, and enjoyed it. I thought it was well written.
It's a compliment to be 'used'
.
Only thing I noticed, was Stefan matured mentally 'over-night'.
This sequel ends the original fantasy of deception and subterfuge; with the arrest of Doc Barnes.
I can still be 'found' in the Members list
and
I'm even in the Personals (if anyone is interested . . . . )

Well. four out of five in favour isn't bad, and I should also mention the one dissenting voice, Peter 47, who although he didn't like the story, prevents me getting complacent - supposing that I can please all the people all the time.

Very interesting story. I honestly prefer it to the original tbh. Quite enjoyed reading it.

Re: "Will it hurt?" a sequel
Hey, just noticed this thread now!
I left a note on the story itself, but I'm glad to see it here, too.
I totally loved the CvanD version. The shift in certain things style-wise is perfectly acceptable; I love movies that have multiple directors taking turns shooting scenes, so I have no problem with it here.
In fact, one change that really works is the difference in frequency between the two. In the original, a reader rightly feels that castration only happens in this town; that Doc is a very, very lucky guy for not getting caught, and that the only eunuchs in town are boys he has 'done' personally. Then, with the new story, we see that in fact this town's state has fewer eunuchs than states nearby; Neutersol use is common all over EXCEPT here. Surprise!
Thanks to both authors. My heart leapt right up into my throat when I saw this on the new stories list, and seeing as I methodically work through the list from top to bottom without looking ahead, may I mention a tounge-in-cheek GRRRRR to Cainanite for listing it LAST... !!
