Where's River

We are all aware River & Son and little doggie too are motor vehicling across America to the San Francisco Bay area on the first leg of his immigration to the paradise of Hawai'i.

He is out of touch, so I thought we might "limit" discussion about "River" to one thread so should he manage onlineship -

it would be more one stop. Sort of.

After his Hawai'i Thread, River points out. :shakemitk

Traversing the continent in this Winter should be the beginning of a remarkable adventure.

Think Donner Party, who will doggie eat first?

"Where's River", we can only 💡

I am still in Wisconsin at least for a couple more days, today I pack the kitchen and finish off the bedroom. I will set aside what goes in the luggage and what gets packed for delivery later.

I have been making a list.

2 pair levis

2 pair of shorts

6 tea shirts

1 hoodie

6 pair socks

6 pair underwear

1 pair of shoes

1 pair sandals

1 straw hat (to be perched in Hawaii)

yep that should do it, I may be over packing but I do need to get to California by car.

more later, much yet to pack.

River

PS. A very good idea came from MactheWolf last night in chat, take a special treat for Nelly for when she gets off the plane in Honolulu and Hilo, I packed a treat for both times, there in my camera case. Thanks wolfie.

Last count, I had 14 hoodies, including the 2 that are insulated flannel shirts with hoods.

You don't want to know how many pairs of shoes I own.

but Imelda Marcos would be gravely jealous and KINKY BOOTS would not be kinky or bankrupt if he only bought from that one factory.

Dear River DEAR

Have you checked the weather forecast for your route.

From here it doesn't look like there is any improvement by going the "southern route" with a continuous storm and cold front from Canada to Mexico, until you get to California. The dry, but Golden crisp State.

There should be 10 day forecasts that would cover your entire trip time now, barring getting snow bound. (Donner Party)

I do believe if you drive north into 🇨🇦 you can get on the upwind side of the 🇨🇦 Polar Vortex and circumvent the storms.

How about giving us your current itinerary. We can be your WeatherWatchers.

Dates for the first leg or two, projected ? ?

BTW you may remember I 😱'ed when I realized I would be down wind of you. Now that you explained the east, California facing, side of the island gets winds off the ocean, for whatever reason - I am, relieved. :)

Bon Voyage in its' real meaning. I wished the storm before you depart.

And You'll be on Board in my late hours too :D

All the very best to you, R, and all best wishes for the new home.

-If NORAD can track Santa, why are we asking "Where is R?"

I have checked the 10 day weather forecast every day for the last month, just to check how accurate it is, so we will be taking the northern route, or hwy 90 if you must know.

At least I will not be going the southern route because of all the wild fires in Southern California, I wonder if MOI's house will be safe, with the Santa Anna winds blowing right down his street. (wonders if he will need to put Moi up if his house burns down) Oh the humanities of it all.

River

Route 90 takes you to Seattle area.

Where y'gonna catch the highway to the Bay Area?

Any idea of "near what little wide space in the road" you will spend the first night and the second or

y'gonna do a pedal to the metal drive straight through. That can be done in 2 days.

How is the heater?

Hitting the road, Sunday ? 6 AM ?

Moi 🚬

Beware motels with noisy heaters.

Take a blanket for the passenger to get more comfy naps

Drink enough water to keep y'r urine clear. It is easy to dehydrate on the road.
