Chemical castration of sex offenders?

Post by Andrew (imported) »

Always a controversial topic. I am NOT interested in getting into a flame war over this. This posting, as usual, is to provide information ONLY. Do with it what you will.

The first link is to the home page of this web site. You will note it has several topics related to sexuality, with "yes" and "no" options on each topic. You may wish to explore the other topics.

HOWEVER, The 2nd and 3rd links are for the "yes" and "no" sections on the chemical castration topic.

Hey,

I don't want to offend anyone, but I believe sex offenders should be chemically castrated, so they can't do anymore harm. Being a woman who has been raped, I would love to see them get what they deserve, PAIN! I believe they should do the procedure without anesthetics and let them suffer..

I LOVE JIM AND CB, LMAO..

On the one hand, chemical castration involves a shot into the rear every 4 months, not all that painful. On the other hand, NO doctor would perform a surgical castration without proper anesthetics.

On the gripping hand, I'd have to reluctantly agree with Victor T. Cheney. Castration as punishment simply won't work and won't fly. Period. Forget it. It would have to be regarded as treatment, not punishment, and done with the full, informed, uncoerced consent of the offender.

Just my abject, humble opinions, of course.

Aloha,

I do believe they need some sort of HARSH punishment for their disrespect of women. NO MAN SHOULD GET AWAY WITH THIS ATROCIOUS ACT!

Personally, I believe they should be nullified..but of course the U.S. is a man's country and women are raped everyday with their rapists only getting like 4 years in prison, if they're caught at all!

I agree with a previous post on this subject. The only sure way to prevent a rapist from raping again is complete nullification (castration and penectomy).

Chemical Castration for rape will not work, sorry, nice thought though.

The main reason is that there are two many originations that will stop it from happening.

DonΒ’t know what else to tell you. It will never happen.

This is exactly why Californian N.O.W. wanted to introduce Boron into the drinking water - although I doubt any level of Boron would reduce testosterone sufficiently in the male beasts who rape.

Speaking of California, I was a certified volunteer Rape Crisis Counselor for over three years in the Palm Springs to Indio region. Sometimes I would have to meet the survivor at the jail although most of the time at the hospital. What I saw, behind bars, was not fit to live -- let alone keep its' testicles.

My heart and deepest sympathy's go out to you. No amount of consolence could I give would ever make up for the harendous act that you are a victim of. I feel your anger and your hurt, for I too am a victim of a molester as a child. It has left a scar that I will carry for the rest of my life. I will never forget what happened on that warm summer day so long ago, no matter how hard I try. That scar has taken many years to heal and for many years I was angered. Why? Why did this happen to me? Was I to blame for this? Was it my fault that this had happened? No! It was the sick mind of a twisted person who had their way with me. I would have them removed from society so they could not prey upon the innocent ever again! This world may not have the punishment they deserve, but they will answer to their crimes in the next.

Christina,

I understand what you mean..lots of kids were molested as children, sadly. I too was in the same position you were. Psychology helps and I believe that all rape victims should have therapists to help them. Some commit suicide and some self mutilate because of these sick people who commit these crimes and are never caught, or if they are caught, they are not punished properly. You should at least get life in prison and if they killed their victim or gave them a deadly STD, then they should have the death penalty.

I personally think that nullification should be a possibility for sex offenders, but only if
