For those interested in general body modification fiction, I highly recommend the novel "NEXUS" by Ramez Naam. Deals with the whole gamut from relatively minimal functional enhancements to changing physical neural structures underlying consciousness and finally segueing to transforming into other than human. Cool, fascinating stuff.
