the pros and cons of Depo Provera

Post by womblepet (imported) »

I have taken Androcur before for a month, but lost my script and didn't re-order. I am thinking it better to have a Depo Provera injection. Can anyone help answer the following questions I have -

1) How easy is Depo Provera to inject oneself?

2) Is the general dosage 150mg 1ml/vial last for three months?

3) I have had some breast development from taking Androcur, would it be likely to occur with Depo Provera as well?

4) Positive/negative experiences of using Depo Provera.

1. Really easy. It comes in pre-loaded syringes so no problem there. It is pretty easy to do IM injections in your butt (upper outer quadrant) or thigh. My wife is a nurse and gives them to female patients in the upper arm but that is awkward to do yourself.

2. No! Three month intervals is only good for female birth control use. Strict judicial castrations use weekly injections while I think 3-4 week intervals is OK. We did 4 weeks but also took some spirnolactone. To do it again, I'd forget the spiro and do the DP every 3 weeks.

3. No idea. I suspect this is more related to you than any universal effect.

4. My experence was positive and after 2 years of chemical castration I was ready to have my testicles removed for real.

I take dutasteride and Androcur which has had good castration effects on me however I am also interested to take Depo injection soon. I am thinking of doing a test with depo, to see how it will effect me and i am unsure if castration can completely remove all attraction to a female. I was planning to take depo injection every 2 months or month and half is this a good idea?

I had great success with DP. I highly recommend it to anyone. YMMV
