Infractions in VBulletin

VBulletin has an infraction manager, which is pretty much an "auto-spank" button that Administrators can use. Not that we WANT to use it...

🍑👋

I talked with Riverwind about setting this up, and using it. I have looked at it, and admittedly, I have no clue what it will do to you if we use it on you.

We were going to test it on each other, but it seems an Admin can't infract another Admin.

(Not that some of us wouldn't mind being infracted, but I digress!)

So, there is a new level - "Made a Political Comment". It is set for 2 weeks, no extension, and worth 5 points. Again, I don't know what it will do.

I got infracted for improperly posting a link rating on another forum, in fact, many of the Admin's there were just crazy to use the thing, even for innocent mistakes. We don't want that here.

So please, one the Political Forum is gone, don't make political comments on the boards. It's gonna be done, unless it's a relevant topic to EA.

Relevant topics might include gay marriage, Obama having his new dog neutered, DOMA, gender issues & the law, and things similar.

Topics like the Middle East or the economy are not acceptable, and such will be subject to the infraction system being used. It's there, we paid for it, and why do all the warning stuff manually if the software will do it for us?

🍑👋Again, thank you all in advance for your restraint.🍑👋

Now I just need a willing volunteer to test it on!😄

Paolo,

What is the infraction supposed to do?

Draconian? I don't want it to be here, no. That's why I left that other board.

Mac, I said I didn't know what it would do. That's why I wanted a volunteer.

Are you volunteering? :)

Well, we've had our first volunteer to supposedly get the automated warning, which is a real time-saver for Admin's!

We'll see how it went, if it didn't go off like a Death Star weapon on him...

Couldn't you create a "crash test dummy" user, and then test on him?

Or is it just not fun? ;)

back in 1969 when I first got to see a computer other than the IBM 360/67 at the university, the interactive system was a very large DEC PDP-8 system. BEcause it used to be up for different classes of users at odd hours, they required a command to force "logins" off the system and then twiddle the OS and bring it back up for other users.

The command they used was "RAPE" ...

Your son is joining? Does he have interests in this subject beyond his dad being a eunuch?

If he does, I'm finding it a rather interesting case about eunuchs and hereditary issues. Kind of like the debates about being born gay or choosing to be.
