Like so many here I thought I'd just report on my experience.

I decided to take the plunge with Siterone (AKA Androcur) for 3 months and see how it'll work out.

It's only been 7 days on 100mg/day so I don't expect any of the 'beneficial' effects but I'm eager/impatient to experience them.

Ahhhh, patience ...

Status quo:

State of mind is same old self. Libido still luke-warm.

I did start to experience shortness of breath which is a reminder that I definitely should get more exercise.

NPT (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nocturnal_ ... tumescence)still doing very well . As soon as this stops I'll drop the dosage to 50mg/day.

I have had a few short spells of pretty painful testes. In a way I do like that because that's a sure sign something significant is going on. I measured them so I can keep track of progress .

A little tenderness in the nipples. I definitely don't want moobs so I guess I'll have to start Tamoxifen soon.

Any recommendations?

I've got an appointment with the uro. Not looking forward to that. We'll see.

When prescribed, physician will monitor liver function, as liver damage can occur. Be careful.

When you stop the drug you are suppose to "wean" yourself off of it and not stop "cold turkey".

Eg. reduce the dose by half for 2 weeks, then half again for 2 weeks.

This is a powerful drug, and there can be any number of side effects, some annoying, some potentially problematic.

Not to be taken lightly. It is not an OTC drug. It can have the desired effect, but should not be used casually.

If I remember correctly, the recommendation was - start high, then gradually drop to maintenance dose? Do not remember the exact speed of changing dose, though it was in instruction sheet somewhere...

I've never had much luck with chemical castration -- I found Siterone made me feel sort of "dried out" and sort of skin crawling along with general low energy. But I hope it works for you.

Please read the spec sheet yourself before giving advice. The spec sheet advises starting at 100mg, increasing slowly if needed, then slowly dropping to maintenance dose after achieving desired result, which for many is 50mg. You are correct about titrating off the drug, as sudden stoppage can cause problems.

Contradictions, opinions, experiences, ...

What I've learned from an 'in-depth study' of the spec sheet and the numerous messages on this board: start highish, optionally go a little higher for a while (I'm not going to) and then go to a lower maintenance dose and do not go cold turkey.

Just for the sake of curiousity: why do you have to gradually level off to 0 when stopping. What would happen if you went cold turkey? I guess 'something' would collapse somewhere. Better not find out.

I once did beta-blockers (against very bad migraine) but couldn't stand the side-effects (weirdest tingling inside the head/brain). So contrary to the doc's instructions I did go cold turkey as I thought I was going crazy (try scratching an itch inside your head...).

Result: no problems, my head didn't fall off or explode. Side-effects stopped 2 days later.

Anyway, I'm not planning to stop anytime soon but I'll proceed with caution.

I researched Siterone quite well before I used it. And I distinctly remember seeing several times to not stop using it suddenly. Regretfully I do not remember the complex chemical cascade of effects that might (would) happen in such a case and what one would experience. But I am sure with ample web research you can find an answer to why. Although unless you find a generic explanation, the chemical, hormonal explanation may yield no useful news.

Almost 2 weeks now (2x50mg/day).

I'm kind of stunned, or maybe disappointed? In any case my patience is getting hit hard.

I concur.

Normally I almost never remember my dreams. Now recently I've remembered 3 or 4 dreams in a row which hasn't ever happened to me before. But the most awkward thing is that the last dream was an erotic one (no, not wet but with an HO). Now isn't that weird?

Other than that:

- no more pain in the nads or tender nipples

- still NPT (= nightly woodies)

- state of mind as usual I'd say

- no tiredness (ah, well not more than usual with the amount of work)

- some shortness of breath

All in all a mitigated experience so far. Let's be patient. And I'm not going to increase the dosage.

Almost a month now. A week ago I dropped the daily dose to 75mg. Soon I'll go for 50mg because it's really looking good:

No more erections at all and significant shrinkage of the testes. I'm really astonished how suddenly and quickly this happened. And the extent of the shrinkage! At least 30% have vanished. The penis is shrinking too but to a lesser extent.

I think (imagine?) there might be some muscle shrinkage (legs and arms). Maybe, not sure either, some thinning of the body hair. Definitely some breast growth but no weight gain (I ought to do my best to lose tons actually).

Breathlessness is more or less gone and I'm feeling really fine, both physically and mentally. No more testosterone-induced sh.t (such as masturbating - nope I didn't test to see how the ejaculate looks).

i find your experiences very infomative on the use of siterone. might i ask where you purchased it and the cost. also do you plan to continue the use for a while?

i am wondering as to the long term effects on you or others who use Siterone as well as those who discontinued use.
