what does Eunuch mean to you as an identity term?

I don't currently identify with the word Eunuch, though I am physically altered such that my body doesn't produce much-if-any testosterone or sperm. The main reasons I don't use Eunuch as an identity are, (1) I want further genital surgery, along the lines of a neo-vagina (2) I don't identify with the "impotent male" connotation of Eunuch, since I no longer identify as male, and never intended to use my penis in a penetrative hetero-male kind of way (3) I'm part of the gender-queer community; after modifying my body ("taking care of business" if you will), I seem to be less interested in socializing on this forum, and don't know any Eunuchs personally. The last reason is similar to why I don't identify as trans/transgender/transsexual -- I'm not part of that community, despite having trans friends. The differences are undoubtedly trivial to an outsider, though, so I will allude to the term when e.g. addressing someone's gendering [their process of gender assignment] confusion.

But, maybe Eunuch can be more of a body-identity term than gender-identity? Do you identify with "Eunuch", or have you found different terms? (And, which terms would you tell people in your life? I assume there'd be problems telling everyone you're a Eunuch, for example.) Also, what kind of people does "Eunuch" typically include for you? (e.g. some/most/no trans-female people?)

For me I prefer "neutrois" as gender ...

I announced to an audience of 75 that I was an eunuch 13 years ago. All my friends know. None gives a damn about it - I've had no one throw me away for that reason.

While I am an eunuch, I identify as male. Eunuch could be used as a physical attribute, and can be used as a gender attribute, either way. Intent is in the contaxt. I suspect that I use male more than eunuch, but I also use both attributes as gender at times.

Eunuch is a broad and all encompassing term. It is a blanket description of males who have been castrated. I am just that, but within the eunuch group there are great variations.

There are those who have done this to achieve a sexless lifestyle that was unattainable when still intact. There are others who have been castrated for medical reasons, or due to injury and never intended in any way to be a eunuch. There are those who had body image issues and removing the testicles corrected that. There are also those who just wanted to be unique and chose to be castrated to achieve that.

I fit into many parts of the eunuch world, but no one of those things really identifies me. Virtually everyone I know is aware that I am a testicle free individual. I am quite comfortable in clothing optional situations exposing myself. I almost always get comments which I respond to freely.

I am a eunuch , but it is not the sum total of my personality, it is a trait. Since my testicles never functioned at all, I have never really been totally male, cause I was never capable of reproduction. Does that make me identify as non-male? NO.

I use HRT and the result is that I can perform sexually as well as or better than most intact males. I like sex, and have no plans to give it up.

For me eunuch is what I am , but it is not really a label that I use. For me it is a descriptive term to easily explain that I am a testicle free individual.

It means that I have exercised a choice, and am now a male without testicles. Let's not complicate thing by mixing our physical and psychological attributes in defining ourseves.

The other day I was thinking about all the sub categories of eunuchs. I am a eunuch not a male. I have never used replacement T or E. I was castrated for two reasons one of which was my dislike of being male but with no interest to be female. I also had a sex addiction where I was constantly craving bigger and riskier sexual adventures to feed the addiction.

I was in my early 20's when I learned about what becoming a eunuch might be like. I struggled not only with the idea of becoming one but also with the how of having it done. As a sex addict the fantasy of being castrated grew into some of my most erotic fantasies. My search began long before I had access to a computer and it was not until I was 41 that I achieved my goal. Now at 57 I am fully comfortable as a eunuch.

I was never bothered by my testicles but I did not like T. I missed them at first only because I missed the feeling when they were lightly tortured. No point to hanging a weight from an empty scrotum. Again without a computer I did not know of chemical castration other than talk of using it on convicted molesters and rapists. I did not become aware of the EA until several years after my castration. My addiction to phone sex chatrooms is what led me to a cutter.

Although I am a eunuch in the strict sense of the word, i.e. I no longer have testicles, I don't use the term when speaking with others about my medical condition. To a medical professional I say I had dual orchiectomies and to a layperson I say I had my testicles removed or I am castrated. The word eunuch has too much historical baggage that can mean different things to many people.

That neatly sums up what I think, what I believe. I am a man first, a gay man second and in distant tenth or somewhere a eunuch.

I often refer to myself as an altered male. I do not self identify as a eunuch but I fit the description in that I do not have testicles. I have no objection to the use of the word eunuch to describe me but I feel that I am more a male that has been changed than a eunuch within the historical implications of the word. --FLO--

My "identity" is being an ordinary person, neither more nor less unusual than is anyone else; I became without testicles and without colon to reduce my likelihood of dying from cancer in the manner of my dad and brother. I have always had some of the socially-assigned attributes of a man and some of the socially assigned attributes of a woman, and I find that such is actually true for everyone who manages to live into so-called adulthood.

Because I find every person to be a unique person, and so no person is more or less unique than is anyone else, I find that I am absolutely and totally normal, and so is everyone else.

As I have indicated in other posts, I never learned to "think in words," and so do not identify who I am with words; my sense of identity is as though so far within me that nothing outside me has ever been able to touch it.

Such names or labels as people apply to me inform me about those people and not at all about me.

Suppose someone, seeking to denigrate me, calls me "a cereal killer." I will, perhaps, suggest that I am not a cereal killer because the breakfast cereal I somewhat regularly eat was killed in being harvested and processed for distribution in a nearby food store.

Are cereal killers really dangerous people deserving of incarceration?

In possible contrast with the underlying notion of the My Lai Massacre ("We had to destroy it {My Lai} to save it."), I did not get my testicles and colon destroyed to save them; I got them destroyed to save the rest of me.

So, what label would I choose regarding being a eunuch? How about, "living person."
