When they burned Washington in 1814

During the War of 1812, the British entered Washington D.C. in 1814 and burned the White House, the Senate, the House of Represenatives (sp) and the Library of Congress.
The British committed this action, in part, for the American destruction at Port Dover in Upper Canada.

Everytime I hear Naive Canadians say "we won the war of 1812", "we burned the whitehouse"
I keep nodding. You were a britsh colony back then, not Canada.
The hudson Bay company is older than Canada LOL

A major loss was that they burned the 1790 census, the earliest record
of the distribution of people in the U.S.

Or the United States, for that matter..It was an act of aggression that we paid for...as it should have been...Hudson's Bay Company..
