I've been chatting with others and everyone else that seems to be ineterested in castration is always gay. Is it really uncommon for a heterosexual to desire castration?

No it is not unusual for a heterosexual man to desire castration. However, it seems that we have a rather disproportionate number of gay men who desire it. We've had this discussion in the past, but I've never been satisfied with the results in terms of knowledge gained.

My research colleagues and I have long been interested in the factors that CORRELATE with castration. (Always remember that correlation does NOT equal causation!) Some of the factors that we have found in our sample of 354 individuals in the EA Survey who were already surgically castrated include:

1) Being well-educated

48% hold a bachelor’s degree or above – compared to 30% in the general population

22% hold an advanced university degree – compared to 11%

Those who are better educated are more likely to understand the consequences of castration.

2) Having grown up on a working farm

18% of the eunuchs – compared to less than 2.5% of the general population

Again, they are more likely to understand castration and its consequences. If growing up on a farm were a causal factor, there would be far fewer third generation farmers!

3) Having participated in the castration of domestic animals while a child

30% of the eunuchs – no comparable data available, but this is certainly high

4) Being other than strictly heterosexual (including gay, bisexual, and asexual)

68% of the eunuchs (32% are heterosexual)

My thought is those who are outside the “cultural norm of heterosexuality” are more likely to think about their own sexuality than those who simply fit with what is presented as “normal” around them. (Their sexuality just is, and doesn’t require any thought.) I would expect that this factor will be changing over time thanks to changing social norms....

5) Having a parent or other adult authority figure threaten them with castration when they were children

18% of the eunuchs – no comparable data, but this has to be VERY high. Several individuals wrote of a parent pulling down their pants, grabbing their genitals, and holding a knife or scissors to them!

6) Having been sexually abused as a child

21% of the eunuchs

Again, this keeps sexuality in one’s thoughts

7) Having been raised in a very devoutly Christian family (as opposed to normal church-going or less devout).

37% of the eunuchs

I'm also finding that among members of the MBM website that the common perception is that everyone there is gay. However, that is not the case and we have many straight members (about 10% purely straight and if we add together Straight + Bisexual it's about 20%). This is all from self-identification of their sexuality. I'm surprised how many of those I've defined as being extremely modified (the "lightest" mod they have is complete genital bisection to qualify for "extreme), are also straight.

It might just be that we gay people who are castrated are a bit more open and vocal about it given our past societal constraints. That, and lack of balls isn't nearly as important to our community as it may be to the heterosexual community, so perhaps we're more willing to talk openly about it. Maybe our peers do not judge us as harshly as say a heterosexual male who is voluntarily castrated as we have a sub-culture that is more supportive.

This is all speculation, but back to my point... I was suprised how many of my self-identified "extremely" modified users are straight. I'm still compiling data (and no worries, I'm not attaching any specifically identifying information to what I'm looking at) so I'll have a better idea once I'm done compiling and cleaning the data up.

I mean, im a bi and i have over my whole life the great desire for all castrating steps. As aboy i shorted my foreskin, than my sac. Im married and after our 4.child i cut out my semencords. It was one of the greatest moddings.

Now im thinking about going to the urogolist because of my prostata-growing. I believe, that an older man like me will be castrated now quite and without many askings, why. And im very courious for the feeling and touching of a smooth crotch under my cock. Has to be amazing!!! And i hope i can watch the cutting and the doc will me give my eggs with at home for nice reminding ...

And the life will be withou most troubles between my wife and me. I mean our male sexdrive brings a lot of troubles...

I've noticed, too, that gays are overrepresented here. I'm straight-leaning bisexual myself, but my castration desire derives exclusively from my failure of heterosexual affairs. I.e. I'm able to find potential same-sex lovers but no woman is interested in me. Hence my desire to get rid of my sex drive.

I'm heterosexual and am castrated. I think Losethem is right, I think the gay community is more vocal and open about it. For a hetero man to talk about castration is difficult, but hetero's would not want to discuss it and probably think you're weird or crazy. There's a greater stigma in the hetero community about castration, but that doesn't mean that there are less hetero's who desire castration.
