Very interesting article. It doesn't really indicate if this was an accident, infection, or whether the doctor really just cut off the guy's penis.

It was probably a slip of the knife ... a lot of those circumcision devices aren't overly foolproof nor safe, ya know.
You can find all sorts of cool stuff by doing a search on "Circumcision+device".
I think of all the ones going, the yet-to-be FDA approved for US release is the Tara Klamp. Search that one up, too.

The report posted by the BBC on this uses the phrase 'apparently accidental' in such a way that I think that the writer felt that there was no accident and that the Dr. did it deliberately for some reason left unstated. I am not an expert on Mexico, but I doubt if Doctors are normally arrested if a procedure goes wrong - sued, perhaps.
