Ground Explosives for Decimating Infantry

There were some small type explosives, used during WW2, which, when a soldier stepped on one, would usually remove a leg, foot, or even strike and cause massive and traumatic damage to the male parts. These mines were called "Bouncing Betty"s, due to their effect of causing the soldier to be tossed into the air in the manner of a bounce.
These mines were often loaded with small jagged pieces of metal, packed over a rather large charge of explosive compound, which would propel the projectiles upwards with enough force to lift a 250 man about a foot in the air.
This lifting effect gave rise to the name "Bounding Betty" more in the foum of an allusion of having sex with a buxom woman, and not because the originator was called Betty.
