How It Was, a half a century ago.

Sadly the man in this older video (that has been around for awhile) got bad advice.
Just because you are gay, or because of religions say, are not reasons to be castrated.
It must come from within, deep within, and be an unshakeable conviction.
Communication, awareness, information, education have helped to alter how homosexuality is defined and understood.
However some people remain uninformed and continue the persecution.
One must not pursue voluntary castration for the wrong reasons, or do so without adequate information, awareness and preparation .
There are benefits.
There are consequences.
Each person must decide if for them the benefits will outweigh the consequences.
And this is hard to do for you can't really know how both will affect you until the deed is done.
And once done, there is no going back.
The EA is a good place to obtain information, but not just from one person.
Lots of input from many different people, over a long period of time, must be evaluated before deciding what path to take.
It is tragic that the medical profession, and laws, prevent people from obtaining voluntary castration.
At least there is a process for someone to obtain sexual reassignment.
But simple elective castration is still in the outer limits with no option for professional evaluation, information, and assistance.
Thus, people take risks, and proceed with inadequate information or preparation, and may even do the deed when they should not.
It would seem that still in our time every psychiatrist will work to "cure" any man from seeking castration.
Wrong answer. They should seek to help any man who seeks castration to determine if that is really what they need, and if so, help them get it.
better this than let someone run amok and do things that they (and maybe others) will regret.
Nip it in the bud, as they say, would be preferable than a life of testosterone misery (or worse).
