Have any of you noticed when there is an emergency that local news reports go into hyper-drive.

Example, a couple years ago we were having tornado warnings in our area, now the local channel lineup has several channels which were weather only channels but even having this they removed the gave, the Hockey final, I along with I am sure many others phoned and emailed the station so they finally put the game on the weather channel leaving the one which should have shown the game showing the weather.

Now the person on the station was jumping around so excited he could not even put a 5 words together without tripping on them, repeating himself. This was his big moment on air, I am sure he was thinking NYC next stop. What is interesting is every channel had this same kind of person who could only find a job in a low market area. So with 15 channels to watch the only thing on was weather.

Now to my point, I am watching Martin Bashir on MSNBC, and we have been switched to Big Bear Lake were the man hunt for the cop, cop killer. I think the guy who was doing the weather is now working in Big Bear Lake, in a matter of 3 minutes the guy talked non stop and said exactly the same thing 6 times. He was so excited he just cant stand it.

If that is not so bad, after 20 minutes of this guys saying the same damn thing they are finally back in NYC and Martin Bashir is repeating everything they said just in case you missed it.

Peace and quiet has resumed at my home, I just turned off the TV.

Tabloid News does a better job,

your thoughts?

Agreed.

See the ole "Smoke Screen Thread".

Like there is a reason they don't want to tell us real news.

Thank my cousins for Al Jazeera. 😄 "REAL NEWS"

Oh and congratulations 👌 on developing a great omnibus thread.

I look forward to NEWS live from anywhere/nowhere. I see great uploads forthcoming.

The latest flood in Bangladesh to the grain harvest in Egypt.

Reputation tag at ya, 💋 & 🤗 DEAR.

RiverYou still watch TV?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qG6Hz_dnfLM (Sorry, no proper subtitles here, but it is a parody of news "Russian style").

I do not even own TV, and do not plan getting one. (Ok, the last time I watched TV on purpose was, when we watched traditional New Year president's speech, at parent's house).

As a caregiver to an elderly person right after Let's Make A Deal and The Price Is Right we switch to CNN. Of course with some short term memory issues the news is new each cycle. At least I broke them of the Faux Views habit. The Pope is going to resign on February 28th. The Pope is going to resign on February 28th. That explains why most days I am nucking futs.

Oh I forgot to mention that our local news folks cut in usually during the Big Deal or The Price Is Right Showcase. Oh the moans and groans this causes.

With the various medias divided into 43,000 outlets, they have a lot of time to fill. Therefore, absolutely everything is hyped to the max to fill the time.

I agree my friend, however what I am talking about is BREAKING NEWS, its the story that overrides everything else, it becomes the one and only news, with camera shots of cops walking around looking board, flashing news banners across the bottom of the screen telling you that X is now doing Y, another part of the screen is explaining for the what ever the 5 minute cycle is what is happening, with continual views from ground and air, and and and telling you nothing.

This is great! The further you go, the more things stay the same. Thank you.

You mean like when all news & programming is blacked out to watch a high speed car chase.

I hoped for different things, I just may hijack this thread for my stated understanding above ;)

Happens here at least once a month now. They will even cut into network news, and sometime go for over an hour - all networks.

How does the CHP or police Helicopter manage with 5 network helicopters fighting for "the view".

🙄

CBS, NBC and ABC Network news all deferred to watch a cabin in the San B mountains burn

while speaking words and bringing no news.

<sigh>

Is that what it is about, River?

I think your right on it, now of course they must leave, OH NO say it is not so, yes they must leave the burning cabin which is now burned to the ground, but they must take a break for the State of the Union Address.
