Java Inactive Plug In Feb 2013 - Chat Room Access

I haven't been able to log into the chat room past few days. I only get message reading Inactive Plug In. On both my iMac (Mac OS X 10.6.8) and MacBook Pro (new 2012). I've tried downloading most recent version of Java, and checked to make sure Java Preferences is checked to enable applet plug-in. Tried restarting computers, etc. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!
