What happens to the spermatic cord after castration

Does anyone know? I tried searching for an answer here in the archives but, well, that is impossible without pulling up 9000 unrelated posts.

Does the stump retract up into the abdomen and kind of shrivel up? Does it dissolve? Just kind of hang there?

There are too many variables to list. Basically depends on the individual, and how the surgery was done. I am sure you will get comments from individuals that will explain some of the different results.

After I had my testicles cut off through incisions on each side of the scrotum, it took about three months and the cut cords suddenly disppeared up into my body, never to be heard from again. About a year later I had the empty sack cut off and am now smooth and flat underneath.

Well for what it's worth my surgery was done eight months ago and this is my experience so far; Dr. Arnkoff told me at the time I'd think I still had my testicles for awhile after the procedure. I wasn't sure what he meant at the time but now would suspect he was talking about the cords swelling into the scrotum. They got to about the diameter of my little finger and there were two identifiable "lumps" near the ends where the cords had been ligated.

They did cause some discomfort for some time and when I asked the good Doctor how long it would take for them to shrink, he said "it'll take months for the cords to atrophy" and it did. While some have indicated that the cords retract into the abdomen as smoothie36 indicated, that is not the case with mine. They are smaller in diameter than before the procedure now, but it doesn't take a lot of searching to find the ends in the area of my scrotum.

Hope that helps but as folks around here keep saying; "your mileage may vary" and they continue to say that because it's true.

I have no idea, I had a vasectomy after my 4th son was born about 28 years ago, I was castrated 10 years ago, the doctor never said anything about them, I am guessing that they went away years ago.

From videos I have seen, the testicle cord is clamped twice, then the scalpel is used and the testicle is separated. The remaining testicle cord stump is cauterized and when the clamp is released the cord retracts into the body cavity. I can only imagine that with the blood flow into and out of the testicle no longer occurring the cord would atrophy, but never just disintegrate and disappear. The sperm cord, being much tougher material, would be within the testicle cord and probably just hangs around unused, unphased as it was a one way tube anyway to carry sperm out. Getting rid of as much of the testicle cord is my goal which is why I hope I have an inguinal removal, even though that surgery requires general anesthesia and a longer recovery. But hopefully not much more than a double hernia which people endure and recover.

Mine are still there and I can find them inside my empty scrotum quite easily. With my kinky interests I got the best of both worlds - no balls, and an ability to enjoy that delicious pain that comes from ball torture, if the guy I'm with wants to be a bit creative. ;)

Five plus years later my cords are still there and easily found. There is a large mass on one and a slightly smaller mass on the other. They have shown no sign of disappearing so I imagine they will not go away on their own. --FLO--

Dr. Reed pulled my cords down as tightly as possibly before clamping and cutting. The swollen ends were easily located very low in my pelvis until their swelling was gone. After that, they've never been any kind of issue and I couldn't tell you where they are, these days.

Had one removed scrotally and one removed inguinally.

Depends I think if the cremaster muscle is removed as well. Mine were not it seems.

The right side all cords erc are still there. That is the scrotally removed side.

On the inguinal side only the cremaster muscle is palpable.

I wish I had the right side done inguinally too. It was the initial plan of the surgeon then they changed their mind.

For the lef it demanded inguinal.
