LULEA, Sweden (Reuters) - A Stone Age camp that used to be by the shore is now 200 km (125 miles) from the Baltic Sea. Sheep graze on what was the seabed in the 15th century. And Sweden's port of Lulea risks getting too shallow for ships.

In contrast to worries from the Maldives to Manhattan of storm surges and higher ocean levels caused by climate change, the entire northern part of the Nordic region is rising and, as a result, the Baltic Sea is receding.

"In a way we're lucky," said Lena Bengten, environmental strategist at the Lulea Municipality in Sweden, pointing to damage from Superstorm Sandy that killed more than 200 people from Haiti to the United States.

The uplift of almost a centimeter (0.4 inch) a year, one of the highest rates in the world, is part of a continuing geological rebound since the end of the Ice Age removed a vast ice sheet from regions around the Arctic Circle. etc. etc.

Or is the sea level dropping in these Nordic areas.

What's it all about? Politics? Come to think of it, Hawaii is rising too.

As I reflect on the work of Alfred Wegener, and the work of his predecessors and successors, I am comforted by having learned to think in spherical coordinates regarding the surfaces of objects that are approximately spherical.

Continental drift, in spherical coordinates, can be modeled using three orthogonal components. I am now imagining those orthogonal coordinates of continental drift as being modeled in terms of longitude drift, latitude drift, and elevation drift.

Suppose, as continents rise, the mass of the risen components of continents results in lowering of the the mass of that which underlies the sea floor. In that scenario, based on conservation of mass and a presumption that the density of the material which has risen as continents rise is not dramatically changed as it rises, whatever continental rise happens is (plausibly?) accompanied by a lowering of sea floor. Therefore, continental rise may result in lowering of the elevation, with respect to the centroid of planet Earth, and may also result in relative sea surface level rise with respect to land masses which have ocean boundaries, and which encounter a decrease in elevation in consequence of increased elevation of land surface areas elsewhere.

Of course, I am mistaken.

I did the Novice license test in the 1950s in Milwaukee, with an FCC field engineer doing the Morse Code testing, and passed it. I did the General license test in 1962 in Chicago, with an FCC field engineer doing the Morse Code testing, and passed it. Along the way, I passed the Advanced and Extra Class tests. And, as circumstances allow, I am active, having working fixed and mobile stations that include HF, VHF, and UHF apparatus.

I always did my mandatory Morse Code tests with an FCC field engineer, and never flunked any such test.

And, for a time, during 1962, I was the actual person using the pseudonym, "T. E. Chandler" at the Allied Radio Corporation Technical Service Department Ham Desk.

HF station equipment includes, and is not limited to: Collins KWM-2, Heathkit AT-1 VF-1, and AR-3, Hallicrafters HT-37 and SX-100, and some more recent things, like a Drake TR-7 upgraded to TR-7A functionality (except for the sticky TR-7 cover paint).

My most recent time on the air was this morning, on a 2 meter net.

Sometimes I wonder whether autism is necessarily a mental disorder or defect.

My medical records state, regarding me, "high-functioning autism," and my primary care physician's PA-C has told me that high-functioning autism is, for me, "a proven diagnosis."

My medical records also state, "hyperverbal."

To me, words are like sperm, very few actually get through, so I use immensities of words in the (vain?) hope that, once in a while, one or more words will work as I expect them to work.

I never learned to think in, or with, words. I think in, and only think, in thoughts. When I have a thought clearly enough in conscious awareness, I set out in search of words that may, or may not, usefully represent said thought.

This has had, in my life, a simple effect. I can never believe anything merely because I have been told to believe it.

I find that I actually live in a world in which, if it cannot actually be demonstrated, it may not exist.

Because I have never encountered, in my own life, any accident or mistake that actually happened which was actually avoidable (it was not actually avoided; therefore it was not actually avoidable), and because I have never encountered anyone who has been able to demonstrate to me the actual happening of any actually avoidable accident, I hold the tort liability notion of people being liable for being proximately causal in the happening of avoidable accidents to be biological nonsense in the form of neurological (brain) damage.

When I was rather younger than I now am, some folks, including amateur radio operators, encouraged me to become a licensed "ham." I did that, and ever since, have been doing my best to "ham it up."

Having been allowed to get my novice ticket and having been allowed to try sending a CQ and reply to whosoever, if anyone, replied, was one way I may have eluded what may be a more traditional route of high-functioning autistic people, effective social isolation.

On the other hand, how can I tell whether or not I am effectively socially isolated?

Perhaps, in the manner of Alfred Wegener, I can put forth an idea that most folks may deem absurdly wrong? How about I petition the Wisconsin Supreme Court to remove deception, in the form of time-corrupted-learning, from the interpretation of the laws of Wisconsin?

Perhaps I am active as an amateur. Who is alive and not an amateur at understanding life?

I do not claim to be active as an amateur radio operator, though...

i hear that some of the older transceiver sets didn't limit you from the dangerous frequencies. so, if you were messing around with one these without knowing what you were doing you could, for example, permanantly deafen yourself & everyone you live with...

Moi, did the model you are looking at take into consideration that the earth quake last year in Japan lowered the island 3 feet?

Yes Moi, this is nothing new, we live on a planet that is alive, if it was not we could not exist and because its alive it builds and destroys real estate, it moves as plates shift. This is nothing new, I learned this as a kid in Science Class not at bible school.

I have read of the proposals and commented any such construction should be by

assessment of the benefiting property owners.

Here in "The O.C." Conservative Heartland. The City of Newport Beach started

actions to be first in line for Federal Gimmees to protect the Balboa Uber Rich.

We can't all be Holland. Maybe relocation should be considered. By individuals of course.
