Ah.....the 80's. a time of frustration. the time where your dexterity and reflexes on multicolored vibrant

dizzying screens that caused seizures was put to the test.

Not to mention greasy thumnails struggling to keep up with the respawning enemies

moi you wouldn't understand that the nes took mastery of the fingers.

it was both a curse and a delight to know that the value of you games wasn't gonna go to waste after beating it.

don't badmouth the NES man. The nes badmouth you. :D

There were several, pacman comes to mind however you only needed a couple buttons and a joy stick, Today if you don't have a Naga and Nostromo you just not a gamer.

I personally wouldn't mind a PC river, they've definetly have gone down in price. 10 yrs ago it was unheard of the get a decent rig for $1000. now all you need is about $600(using ingeniuty, shopping at the right places online and reusing old pc parts)

A PC for a college gal is a waste of time in my opinion. I'll stick to the brutal NES, genesis and snes emulators that are good for when on the go with a tablet. chances are if yer so pissed off with a level in a retro game. you will put that device down. after all, arcade is synonymous with play and give up after you've run out of quarters hehe. (only downside to this logic is you have an unlimited amt of quarters but the game is soo ridiculously hard you'll tire your fingers and be compelled to put the device down hehe)

Try playing strider hiryu and you'll see what I mean.

If I ever had a PC id use it specifically for WOW, starwars the old republic and diablo 3. the fact that you have to wait long checkpoints deters you from leaving the game and chatting to others online preoccupies yer mind on just simply playing the game. Hrs will go by for what seems like mere minutes to you.

I need to study and a quick retro game session keeps me alert of the tasks i have at hand.

I'd most likely bomb my courses if I had a PC. Not a very good long term investment.

Speaking of PC world, have you ever played ArmagetronAD or GLTron? Oh, and TeeWorlds...

As for the 80's-90's games... Ah, Super Mario on SNES, the great time consumer...

On PC - Blackthorne, Pac-in-Time ( another great time consumer)...

With ZX Spectrum, I do not remember the game names, cause it was usually along the lines: "here, take this tape..."

As for the non arcade games, The Incredible Machine 2 and Transport Tycoon Deluxe... (nephew still plays both).

I play WOW, Diablo III, StarCraft II, and would have played the old republic if the people who serviced the game had there head out so I own the game and have and will never play it. Diablo III was just like II - hack and slash and once you have won the first level it repeats, boring. StarCraft II has a great story line but to finish it I guess were going to need to wait another 3 or 4 years for the second install then 5 more for the final, I guess I am over it. I keep looking for something to replace WOW but its still the best game out there today. With the add-on's Naga and Nostromo its a good game, without them I would not play.

I'll give GLtron a try when i get the chance on my parent Mc OSX. my main PC busted a few months ago so all I have is my transformer prime android tablet atm.

I know games have different effects on people. At least for me, arcades games are easy to put down.

As far as most difficult arcade games go, I'd say Donkey Kong. I have NEVER made it past the fourth stage no matter how hard I try. And this is even after looking up a bunch of internet posts and videos on how to beat the damned thing. My goal has always been to make it to the third spring stage, which is supposed to be the hardest in the game, but I've never even made it that far. There's always some rogue barrel that comes down out of nowhere and flattens me right as I think I've got it figured out. That game is HARD.

And if you're really looking for hard games, have any of you ever tried playing the original American NES version of "Battletoads?" Lordkat of the "Until We Win" web series is quoted as saying "I have never played the same stage so many times to die in the exact same way over and over and over again. This game is downright sadistic."

My brother's kids played video games that Uncle bought.

Does that count for anything but 1 to 10 with all my fingers?
