Mites, Fleas, Lice and Kooties

Post by moi621 (imported) »

The arthropods infesting me.

This area is endemic for fleas and I can handle them. They are flat, hard to crush so if I pick on I roll it to death.

And DEET works great.

This year is different. Few fleas but at nite the skin on my back comes alive with itchies provoking malignant scratching attacks. Before the scratching I look at the skin and see some redness and a few tiny bite marks. Mites! :( I have done all the Rx stuff. Permeth--whatever lotion 5% for 12 hour three times now. And some dog/cat flea and tick and mite scrub out of desperation. And spoke with a really pretty ala Galadrial dermatologist who recommended these pills. Stromectol / ivermectin 3 mg. Four pills now, four more in a week. Guess I will not take the cats Capstar tablets. The itching has been mostly the back of the arms, back, pubes, and then skips to the skin on the inside of the knees.

Also trying some vinegar with water again.

Then I remembered the wisdom here and so ask,

Experiences with kooties and arthropod infestations within the epidermis?

Gracias!

Moi <scratch> <scratch>

the cats scratch less then I do. They are triple treated.

Any arthropods have been successfully multi speciated genocided.

I am left with a rebellious hide. In the evening, just minding my own business a tiny blister might appear.

Do not scratch, Do not scratch, scratch - scratch - scratch - scratch can't stop, expanding radius once started, careful not to do it leaving blood, sometimes even circular welt like thingies will pop up, and all clean later.

So, I succumbed to a lab work up.

Could it be psoriatic with positive autoimmune tests?

Could it be some sort of reaction, or dry skin even or manifestation of internal organ disease.

The only exciting results was a slightly, by one point, elevated Eosinophil count in my mid range normal total WBC.

Usually those Eos have been like zero on me. And my total Immoglobulin E was quite normal, which usually concurs with and Eosinophil rise referencing Allergies or Parasites. Even my abused liver and its' functions were normal ;)

All my laundry commanded by the dermatologist I trust to be washed with only, and nothing but

"ALL" brand fragrance - blah, blah free. No bleach, softeners etc. I double washed all in hot/hot water and double rinsed.

I've discovered Eucerin Body Wash and Sarna lotion. My barber noted my scalp was try so I guess this once oily individual has gotten old and low on oil.

It is the way the itch comes at a time of day, which I find most confusing. Not like itching all day.

I tried upping the vinegar (apple cider) in my diet but just could not take it. So I guess I really did not need it.

Suggestions?

Moi

Don't worry, the liver is okay! 😄

Y'know, blood can reflect, blood, kidneys, liver, metabolism, yet -

not one "brain" blood test. Or did I forget?

Once on a time, I lived, along with the rest of my family of birth, in coastal California. Something about the local environment was problematic for me.

Solution that worked for me, but may not work for anyone else?

Moved, along with the rest of my family of birth, from coastal California (Snow? What is snow?) to the northern midwest snow belt (Summer? What is summer?)...

Result for me? Itch? What is an itch?

Shoveling snow in the northern midwest snow belt can sometimes be a way of avoiding the infirmities of old age.

Heart attack? What is a hear...thud?

Not me, not yet.

What I do is simple. If I just took a breath, I go for another one.

So far, one breath has followed another. And life becomes what it can become.

If life is made of death and if death is made of life, are not life and death one and the same as process?

Moi,

If you haven't changed soaps or detergents, I don't know what to tell you.

I have found that Ivory or Kirks' coconut Castille soap or Lever 2000 are about the only ones I can tolerate. Irish Spring soap makes me break out in hives! Then again, so does Wendy's spicy chicken patty.

Have you considered treating the itch/rash with pure coconut oil?

You know this is weird, Ive never in my life gotten lice.

And as a child my sister always came to me to sleep beside me cuz she was afriad of boogey-men. (I was 6 at the time) she had lice a lot of times and may hair was fairly uncut at the time yet I never contracted those critters. My parents would say often it was a miracle, theymust hate my scalp.

I wonder why? To this day ive never caught them, even when im near people who have them

clipp Or did I forget?

Have you flea bombed your bedroom & washed all your bedding clothing, and installed a mattress cover and Vacuumed cleared the floor?

Pills will not get rid of the bugs as they are not feeding on you 7/24, after feeding most will go off an lay more eggs, in the carpet, clothing, and/or bedding

First question is whether the problem has been accurately diagnosed. The US is in the middle of a bedbug epidemic, that may be the most likely source of the problems. I would suggest consulting an exterminator and getting a bed bug detecting dog out. If your house is infested, nothing you can take will help much. It will probably take a professional to get rid of them. I have never had much luck with consumer bug bombs, and bed bugs are even harder to get rid of than cockroaches, fleas and lice.

Yes, it does seem to fit a lot of the symptoms of bed bugs.

I once took up swimming in a pool that was sanatized with a bromine

compound, I would wake up in the night clawing my skin, the idiot

dermatologist I went to thought it might be VD. I eventually

figured it out and it turned out I wasn't the only victim. It was

at the YMCA so the whole affair got swept under the rug.

No lice were ever spotted.

Bed Bug spray was applied to my air mattress.

Flea, mite, spray around the house and on furniture.

The Cats are treated whenever I experience an arthropod bite after handling them.

That experience is passed. If I had arthropodal kooties, they were treated, and treated.

Then my hide morphed into another condition as I described more recently.

I am following my dermatologist advice. She is beautiful.

No more Irish Spring. No more Tide with all fabric bleach. No more fabric softener.

Lotions all per her recommendation. As well as laundry stuff, etc and what nots.

Suck is life. I have become an old man with dry itch skin. And oily skin was always my problem.

Now I have to learn new tricks. And I dislike being lotioned up, especially in hot weather.

My guess is the arthropods kicked off a general skin sensitivity. Maybe I have arthropod sucking parts left imbedded.

And the Eosinophil are reacting. The good news is managing is all without "steroids".

Often there are just processes. Not diagnoses. Like my neurology ;)

Did you switch to a more natural soap Moi like oatmeal bar soaps?(I use one with natural honey bees wax)

I had to do that cause I was using irish spring or that shitty jergens or dove and it was giving me terrible itching as described in previous thread I made long ago

My problem is how awlful eczema gets to me. It's a nightmare

Symptoms are at their peak worse when season changes and its winter.

bad soap irritates it further

NB = Ewww bed bugs are gross.
