A 27-year-old man in Tay Ninh province was hospitalized after having one-third of his penis cut off by his girlfriend in a fit of jealousy.
The victim, whose name is abbreviated as N.T.K, was taken to Dau Tieng Hospital in Tay Ninh after many people who knew of the incident persuaded Ks girlfriend to return the cut-off part of the penis so that it could be brought to the hospital and be re-connected.
The young woman had hidden the part after she cut it off from Ks genitals while the man was sleeping, K relatives said.
As Ks condition was complex, after receiving haemostatic treatment, he was transferred to the Binh Dan Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City at 5 am on Saturday.
Dr Mai Tien Dung, head of the Mens Disease Department of the hospital, said the Dau Tieng Hospital had properly maintained the cut-off part, so it could be reconnected to the remaining part of the penis.
From the wound characteristics, doctors guess the penis was chopped off with a razor blade, Dung added.
K has a job as a driver and often travels, so his lover has recently suspected that he could be having an affair with another woman, according to Ks relatives.
