Saturday was a bad day for Tavares Donnell Colbert. The 36-year-old Oklahoma man accidentally shot himself in the genitals, and then got arrested for it (http://www.theweeklyvice.com/2012/07/ta ... arged.html), The Weekly Vice reported.

Cops met up with Colbert -- a convicted drug dealer out of Watonga -- at a hospital at about 9 a.m. Colbert allegedly told officers that he found the gun somewhere in Kansas and had plans to sell it at a convenience store.

When he pulled over his truck that morning to make sure the gun worked, he found out that it did. He took a round to his groin, panicked and drove to the hospital.

Colbert isn't allowed to carry a firearm because he's a convicted felon with a long rap sheet, so cops arrested him after he was treated (http://newsok.com/man-shoots-self-in-pe ... le/3692972), according to The Oklahoman.

All this coming from a guy who can't stand dumb people.

He was charged with illegal firearm possession (http://www.koco.com/news/oklahomanews/o ... index.html), KOCO reported. In 2003, he was convicted of felony drug possession with intent to distribute.

Aw gimme a break.

I'm sorry to say that I ahve met people who are stupid and I really do hate to say that about anyone. I was lucky to get a good education and not having an education and having poor english skills and lousy grammar is no reason to call anyone stupid.

However, if you've learned to observe people and listen to people for the least shred of substance in what they say, You will if you are unfortunate, hear people who are ignorant and stupid call someone else stupid.

It has nothing to do with politics. Additionally, I've met some mentally challenged people with various challenges and although incapable of learning any math beyond what's on their fingers, they aren't stupid about understanding people and having feelings and being able to return friendship.

So knock off the political judgments. This guy is funny because he's too stupid to put the gun on an empty chamber or put the safety on or not try to carry it in his pants. That's common gun handling. WORSE, being gun-stupid, a convicted drug dealer and now a two time recidivist, he's saying someone was even stupider and shouldn't be alive (dropped on their head at birth).

My mind boggles at the depth of his stupidity.

O.K., can we ask as to the severity of a gunshot wound to the genitals? Was it a hand gun, large or small caliber, what damage was inflicted? I mean, did he blow his balls off or what? Did he do it on purpose or was he just stupid to point the gun at his genitals and pull the trigger?

Why would you pull the trigger to see if it worked, accidentally pulling the trigger while pointing it at your genitals? Why not point it out the window or fire it outside somewhere? Something doesn't add up.

Yeah, I really don't believe most "accidental" shootings. Too many things have to happen wrong to cause a negligent discharge. The only ones I believe in are children and guns (bad mix) and maybe accidentally shooting when you're already preparing to shoot (like an intruder is in the house and you purposefully have a loaded gun pointed at him and finger on the trigger). I guess I also believe if some idiot has a gun "holstered" in his waistband and somehow grabs the trigger when pulling it out. Otherwise, you need to have all of a) gun pointed at something it shouldn't be, b) gun loaded, c) safeties overridden, d) full trigger pull (or hammer action).

In particular I'm skeptical when someone is "cleaning their gun" and shoots their wife. Cleaning your gun is when you're most conscious of what you're doing and there is no way that even an idiot would get far into cleaning a gun without removing the bullets.

If people really are accidentally shooting themselves as often as reported, then imagine how many accidental discharges must be happening that don't hit something? It would have to be at least 50 to 1 chance if you shot in a random direction that you'd hit anyone.
