Both Chemcast and Neutersol were real drugs, however, their reality was far different from what you find on the fiction board here at the Archive.

Chemcast was approved for veterinary use to castrate beef cattle in both Australia and Canada and saw some use in both countries. It worked by dissolving the testicles. It was pulled from the market when veterinarians demonstrated that it both failed to work in about 10% of the cattle that it was used on and that it was apparently MORE painful than surgical castration without anesthesia. Since it was compounded from readily available ingredients, Scottie, here on the EA, made up a batch for self-use. He ended up in the hospital and with serious permanent damage.

Neutersol is occasionally still used, though it produces sterility without much loss of testosterone. It does not destroy testicles.

Let's keep both of them safely in FICTION....
