NEW BRIGHTON -- A New Brighton man is accused of punching his 16-year-old half-brother, who had to have a testicle removed because of the assault.
Clarence McKenzie Jr., 30, of 1405 Fourth Ave. is charged with simple assault, corruption of minors and two counts of furnishing liquor to a minor.
New Brighton Area police Sgt. Arthur Shidemantle wrote in a criminal complaint that Benjamin McKenzie, 16, and his girlfriend, 18-year-old Cassandra Drodge, were at his brother's home at about 2 a.m. June 9 when Clarence McKenzie gave each of them rum.
After that the two brothers got into an argument, the complaint said, and Clarence McKenzie grabbed Benjamin McKenzie by the neck, causing an unspecified injury. Clarence McKenzie then punched Benjamin McKenzie in the testicles, Shidemantle wrote.
Benjamin McKenzie's left testicle was so damaged, wrote Shidemantle, that it had to be removed June 11 at the Heritage Valley Beaver hospital in Brighton Township.
Clarence McKenzie told police that his brother pushed him so he grabbed him by the neck. The two calmed down and sat on some porch chairs, he said.
Clarence McKenzie said he then grabbed Benjamin's leg and pulled him off the chair, causing his brother to fall down. Afterward, Benjamin McKenzie was complaining about his testicles hurting, his brother said.
Clarence McKenzie told police that he was "just fooling around" and did not intend to hurt his brother.
