Damaging the penis with a shaft ring

I am wondering what kind of damage wearing a ring on the shaft of my penis might cause in the short and long term. The size of the ring is 1.15" diameter and 1" in length. I am probably 1.75" diameter erect. I would appreciate if someone could discuss the effects on the tissue involved.
I everybody's fine with my posting this here cause I really appreciate knowledge of the forum even though this isn't directly on point.
Is it possible to upload pictures to a post, there's a button for it but it didn't work for me.

When I look up adding pictures and attachments in the board FAQ it has instructions how to do it. But, when I'm on the post page there is a box that is titled Posting permissions, and one of my permissions is that I do not have permission to post attachments - is a forum participant supposed to ask someone for permission to load attachments?

Jessie,
I wore a cock ring for many years. I had such pain issues with my testicles if they hung down, that keeping them in the inguinal canals reduced the pains . The only effect I saw was over time, I did get slightly longer, and thicker. I had to increase the ring size for it to be comfortable. Even at that sometimes a nocturnal erection would be uncomfortable.
I don't think unless you are seriously constricting blood flow, that there would be much chance of damage.

With cock rings, the result really depends on the exact size and material of the ring. There is a certain tightness that only restricts the veins (blood flow out) but not the arteries (blood flow in) and so will cause an erection. This is actually useful for guys with trouble keeping it up and is actually a real medical treatment, but if the ring is a tough metal it can be a big problem because it is possible to stick a semi-flaccid penis into a ring that you cannot get it back out of because the erection will never go down and it is too engorged to pull back out of the ring. It is actually very common for guys to have to go to the emergency room to have to get rings surgically removed (sometimes they actually have to puncture the penis and drain it, other times they need to get industrial saws to cut off the ring). Here are a fairly recent news story on this:
http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/weird-news ... cut-279084
So basically, you should never put a solid metal ring on your penis that you don't have the ability to cut off yourself.
If you put on a really tight ring, that restricts all bloodflow in and out of the penis, then of course it will cause the penis to die. The penis tissue can actually withstand low blood flow much longer than other body parts, because being flaccid is essentially a very low flow situation. However, after 24 hours of full constriction you're definitely going to have trouble. The penis will die and won't recover, and will have to be surgically removed (or you risk blood poisoning or infection due to gangrene).
Now, you can put a ring on temporarily, however any ring that puts serious stress on the erection has potential for damaging the spongy erectile tissue. This can cause permanent problems, such as severe curvature of the penis.
So, with all that said, the only "safe" thing to do is use a temporary, lightly constricting ring made of material like plastic that can be cut off if necessary.

Thanks for your experience Raymar, how did you keep your testicles in the inguinal canals? That sounds wonderful, in fact I have often fantasized about have them suchured in there - ever heard of that being done?
One of my concerns has been that the ring I'm using is able to create a situation where my penis will apparently seal and not allow the evacuation of blood. At that point, and with the help of lube, I am still able to pull the ring off very slowly. The concern is damaging cells when doing this pulling - but there isn't any lasting pain involved and I never see any signs of bruising... I suppose I could experiment sometime and see how long my penis stays erect with the ring, whether it is perpetual or not. I usually get scared when it starts turning dark purple, about 10 minutes in, and pull the ring off, maybe if I just leave it alone it would subside after 30 minutes or something.

I love this "anti-circumcision ring" which was patented in the 50s or so:
www.google.com/patents/US2538136
It's supposed to be made of a stretching ring which you roll around and over the glans, and place it in the corona sulcus, to make the prepuce stay back..
This way you don't have to bring either yourself nor others into surgery. How it "damages"? Well.. by slowly desaturating and desensitizing the poor exposed glans!
Unless you are really for circs that is.. I'm not against;-) I like a big flared head.

Jessie,
If the ring you are using makes your penis turn purple, it is way too tight. As others have stated, that can damage the corpus cavernosa, causing erectile dysfuntion, and potentially other problems. Any ring you use should be no more than snug when flaccid, and if you are getting erect in it, it should NOT cause it to turn purple.
As for the testicles in the inguinal canal thing, Mine were very small and for a long time, I kept them there with a cockring. I pulled the penis thru, then with the testicles in the inguinal canals, pulled the scrotum, (what I had of it ) thru the ring. The ring close to the base of the penis, and capturing the scrotum as well held the testicles in the inguinal canals.
I did that for a couple years, til due to atrophy, the cords had become too short to allow the testicles to drop into the scrotum. Never had an ill effects with the penis.
I did meet a guy once a few years ago , that had someone stitch the inguinal canals closed with the testicles in there. Not really sure of how that was accomplished, and of course it makes self examination impossible, but it can be done.
As with anything about any type of body alterations, your mileage may vary . For sure, with the testicles not in the scrotum, they will slow doing anything they have been. Sperm count will drop, and testosterone production will slow. Long term it could lead to either cord or testicle atrophy. You best be pretty sure of what you are comfortable with before heading in that kind of direction. You could end up nutless , from things like this.
Use caution, and if you have other questions for me, feel free to contact me vis this site.
