High Blood Pressure

My blood pressure has been creeping up for a couple of years and it was getting to the point that I was getting a complex because I knew the point would come up of taking medicine. So far (64) I am getting by with only B12 and really want to resist getting on a prescription drug if at all possible. Finally it got to the point that I was going to have to do something.
So I changed habits. I limit myself to one cup of coffee per day (vs. several before). I got a bottle of everything at the health food stores which might apply. CoQ, celery seeds, manganese, potassium and niacin. I bought a blood pressure meter at CVS for about $60 and it became my newest favorite toy, using it several times a day.
In the last six weeks my blood pressure has fallen to well within the normal range and I actually got one reading that was too low. Now I am trying to whittle back all the pills to see what works on a maintenance basis. I ran out of the CoQ and not taking it seems to make no difference. I plan about every two weeks to eliminate one of the others and see if it makes any difference.

Let us know your findings. Tim's BP is in the normal range, but high blood pressure runs in his family, so in time, he may have a problem. If it looks like I can forestall that by knowing how to adjust his diet, I can start collecting recipes.

I was on 3 different BP meds as mine was up as high as 160/110 and some times higher. in the past months I have lost more than 15 lbs and exercise by riding my bike more than 50 miles a week, some times more than 100 miles, Ive been able to have two of the 3 meds removed and now my BP is down to about 110/73. My Dr. is super pleased and I feel much better.

Lower is not better.
A massive prospective population study in Framingham Massachusetts revealed
A systolic under 160
A diastolic under 90 is as normal as any for longevity.
You want a basal reading, not a fight or flight reading.
So relax before measuring and work on breathing normally.
Similar to cholesterol, lots of docs and doc literature promoted by you know who
are treating numbers that are quite normal. My poor ole neighbor was placed on a statin
for a cholesterol of 120! & ! After suffering statin myositis and so pained he was ready to cash it in,
I convinced him to . . .
And he is active today.

Sorry. The other probably biggie was checking sodium labels on stuff. It is horrirfic how high the sodium is in things that look like they ought to be healthy. When working in the US, I end up getting things like celery, carrots, boiled eggs and the big juice and coconut water drink bottles for lunch. My Doc cracked up at the disgust in my voice when I told him I had swapped out jerky for celery.

I ran out of celery seeds two weeks ago. So far no change. I am pretty much 115-126 over 65-75.
Could it be that a change of habit alone (no pills of any sort, prescription or otherwise, just limiting coffee and salt) is enough to solve the problem. Lordy, lordy, say it ain't so.

YEA !
Possibly a higher blood pressure was an idiosyncratic medication reaction.
Congrads on making the right choice.
