How much T is enough?????

I am 65 year old hetro male having Bilateral orchiectomy surgery at a hospital next Tuesday.
It is for medical reason (testicle atrophy), but I have WANTED the surgery for many many years to decrease excessive libido.
After the surgery how much HRT would give a man enough T level to be healthy, but NOT renew too much libido.
My Doctor has suggested the injectable at 200 MG every 10 - two weeks, but I feel sure that will be far more than I want.
Obviously I know MMV (mileage my vary) but if I cut that to 50 MG every two weeks, would it be reasonable to expect about ¼ as much response???
I know it will be a trial and error for my unique situation (MMV), but I would appreciate any suggestions or comments. Has anyone had this experience????

You'll cycle up and down a lot with bi-weekly injections. If doing injections better to do them weekly. Usual practice is 2CC's every two weeks or 1 per week, for "normal" levels. Go from there. A lot of folks use AndroGel or variants of that. 5 grams a day is normal dose for most folks. Vary it from there - a lot of folks go with it at 2.5 grams.

The Testosterone Doctor said to use is Testosterone Cypionate 200 Mg/ ml
I am NOT reasl familar with it, but I think that means 200 mg per cc which is given every two weeks
So 2 CC every week would be way too much (I think)
My initial thought is to use ZERO testosterone. I will be VERY glad to get rid of the raging libido and maybe experience to often mentioned eunuch calm.
However Doc says I NEED/Must have the testosterone for health. So I want the LEAST amount I can take and still get most of the health benifit.
I know that the lower I go the more problems health wise and I SHOULD try to get T at least 300 and preferbly 500 and above.
I know it does not work like this (not that exact a dosage), but I would like to select the doseage that would give me a T level of 100
With chemical castration I have had it at 80 and I liked the results there, but I did not stay there long.
My surgery is tomorrow (3/27/12) and I am more than ready for it! YES, a little nervous, but I have wanted this for MANY years.
I appreciate any thoughts and comment. The Eunuch.org forum is just an excellent source of information and I am grateful for it.

I am prescribed 2.5 grams daily...down from 5 because I felt the 5 was too much. I am actually using only 1.25 daily now and that keeps me going like I should. (That's for an old geezer of 74.)
I have been wondering about the 1.62 that Androgel has put out and plan to ask my doctor about it.

Hi,
I am 33 now
I was on 125mgs per week. I was having energy issues and upped it to 167mgs per week.
I went to a specialist after having issues with high hematocrit and hemoglobin, thick blood.
The specialist said to check LH and FSH levels not just T levels. My body seems to use or need far less T than the average. So I have to wait until the LH and FSH levels are above 0 to inject (technically).
I waited 28 days (that last 5 days was hell) my blood became slightly less thick and there was movement in the FSH&LH numbers.
I then started a 1 month trial with about 52mgs per week. It is not that bad. I keep using the sleeping pills to sleep though. I have a feeling that is an issue I have to deal with.
I will test blood levels again soon. Today or tomorrow. Tomorrow I am getting a scrotal reduction so I do not want a T injection at the same time.

You need to keep an eye on Estradiol (E2) numbers when you are on TRT. Excess T converts to E. So when your body has a lot of T when you do the injection (this also applies to gel users) it converts excess to E and that negates some of the positive effects of the T. Get your doctor to check your estradiol levels (use the sensitive test, write in the word if need be). I use Arimidex 1/4 table of a pill 2x a week to keep my E2 under control. It is a common issue.
The usual dose is 100mg per week or .5 cc's. Personally I am on 80mg per week partly due to RBC count getting to high and I'm not allowed to donate blood because of health issues and the medications of on (due to disability nothing life threatening).

I do 200mg Delaterstryl every 21 days and my levels average at the bottom of the normal persons scale.
