How long after a Bilateral orchiectomy.....

How long after a Bilateral orchiectomy does it take for the testosterone level to drop completely?

I am having that surgery next Tuesday.

I was wondering how soon I would notice any changes and how long until there are no effects left from the testicle produced testosterone.

In my case my testicles function poorly anyhow but still produce enough to be at about 250 when not on HRT. I have been off HRT (testosterone) for a month.

I would appreciate any thoughts and coments.

Hi I started testim gel 72 hrs after the chop but only 25mg per day and I found after 2 weeks that I was down to the moning wake up call and if I worked on it I could get erect when I wanted and not when it wanted to stand up 5 times aday. After around 6 weeks I was still the same but as for sex or masterbation the thought only comes around once a week. Im now 8 weeks post and very happy. Hope this helps and good luke with the Op.

It seemed I noticed different changes at different times. I am not sure what my T levels had been but no reason to doubt they were not in the normal range for a 41 year old man. The first were the hot flashes, followed by increased emotions and finally loss of body hair. I think this took from 3-4 months and sexual functioning gradually dropped but did not stop during that period.

With your lower levels the changes may happen faster but be lower in effect. Everyone has their own changes to deal with and if you return to HRT you might not experience any of them.

Ask the Dr. who will castrate you. He should know. I have heard but can't prove that it drops to a very low level in a few days.

Yes, ask the Doctor but one thing is for sure, it is different for everyone.

Less than 1 month after my orchiectomy my T levels dropped from 432 down to 24.7. For me the only thing that changed was my sex drive and it's a bit harder for me to loose weight. I've had no hot flashes nor loss of energy and for the most part my mood has calmed.

But as others have said your mileage may very.

It took about 3 weeks for me. It was a slow creep in how it happened. I had a very high sex drive and once they were off I still had it, but was in pain from the surgery and didn't act on it. I still had desire and masturbated about 2 1/2 weeks after surgery and things were much the same as they were before. Then between 3 and 4 weeks later I was sitting in my living room watching TV and sex seemed like it might be fun, I thought about it for a couple seconds, then went back to watching my TV program without feeling compelled to act on my sex thoughts.

So I'd say 3 weeks to a month later you'll notice the difference. That's what I've seen typically with other men who have made similar reports here.

It took me 5 weeks to start having hot flashes and that is usually when you can be sure that the level of testosterone in your body is very, very very low.
