Ever since I turned 65, I've noticed it's getting more difficult to obtain an erection.
Could my Type II Diabetes be the cause?
Or aren't we senile old farts supposed to "get it up" ?

Probably the most likely cause. I've been type1 diabetes for 11 years (46 now) and have had problems getting an erection the last few years. Have very good control of my bg levels but the doc thinks its the most likely cause. Although being 100% bottom im rarely expected to be hard enough to perform. There are plenty options available if i did want to have full erection but quite happy with it.

MacTheWolf, your guess of diabetes, for your problem, is partially correct. Your age is a factor, your health is a bigger factor. What other medical problems you might have is also a factor. I have had diabetes for fifty years, I am 61 now and hadn't noticed major problems untill I was in my early fifties. Because of my diabetes and low T levels, heart and kidney problems I am totaly impotent now. Kind of off topic right now, I have been wanting my orchiectomy for many years now and am comming to the realization that I have wanted a penectomy for many years now also. I have never tried viagra but I have tried a penis pump, it works pretty good. Yes I think you should have the ability to get it up whenever you want. In my case I dont want to get it up, I just want it gone. In my head I have always felt like my balls and penis dont belong there and i would be happier mentally and physically if they where gone. Hi your health is playing a big part in this but your age is also not helping however your age should not stop this and there are many ways round this you should see your doctor he will help you out. The main thing is to not worry about it as that will make matters worce and you will end up in a downward spiral remember there is a lot of help out there and there are many other ways of having fun I have a freing who can not get erect and uses a prostrat massarger and swears by it he can ejaculate with out getting erect and says its beter and as for your partner there is always toys or oral. Good luck

I hate to say it, but somehow, the mental image of our Wolf with an erection just doesn't do it for me. I keep slapping my head trying to dislodge the image from my brain, but it just won't go away.

Other than diabetes, I'm damn healthy for a 65 year old wolf. My heart works great, I don't have high blood pressure and no other medical maladies that I'm aware of

Diabetes can affect erection in several ways. I am an insulin dependent diabetic and this is based on my case and on my research.
First, diabetes and low testosterone often go together. They tend to make each other worse, too. I know when my testosterone levels are up, my blood glucose numbers tend to be down.
Second, diabetes interferes with circulation and that makes erection more difficult.
Third, diabetes often leads to depression. Depression makes for erectile difficulties. Unfortunately, the treatment for depression is often depressing as it is very hard to get hard when taking most of the commonly prescribed anti-depression med.
