Finally I am back online...

So not that you might have missed me but I've been without a proper internet connection since 1/15/12. I don't care much for AT&T, so I tried Xfinity but the price kept creeping up and I got quite irritated and had the installer remove the system the very same morning. I don't like their math... Some how $79.90 becomes over $100 and even then I wasn't getting any HD channels. That was going to cost an additional $7 a month. 😠 To me that like charging extra for stereo! ;) So I bought a digital antenna and get them for free. I will just stream or download the content that I want and skip the rest of the channels that suck anyway :D

I remember a time jemagirl, and maybe you do too, when everyone had an antenna for TV and TV was FREE. The airwaves are basically public domain, there was no cable company or dish to have to pay for each month. What you got came free over the public domain of the airwaves.

Now we pay a dish or cable company big bucks each month for TV and internet, and the bill goes up every year or even every few months. This is supposed to be progress?

Yeah I know, new technologies are faster and clearer and all like that. But some older technologies are better, simpler, more cost effective, cheaper, etc. When we get something new we have to scrap everything and start all over from scratch. We throw away the good along with the bad. When we do go to new technology why can't we keep the good parts of what worked and combine them with the new stuff, things like free TV.

One thing about free TV the old analog when the weather was bad you got a little snow but the show went on, NOW with the new and improved digital single if the weather is a little bad you totally lose the signal. And they call this progress.

I believe if you follow the money you will find that behind the government regulations bringing this one was the communications companies, the next step is to do away with the air waves all together then to see TV of any kind you will need to buy it, then watch the price go up.

The government is only as good as the lobby paying its way.

It was a conspiracy by the Cable lobby.

With a cheap laptop there are signals from coffee shops, public libraries, motels and hotels that you can get the password to, even hospitals. Drinking places too but I'd be too distracted there. A friend taught me how to use the McDonalds wireless and told me Denny's (open all night) has one too. The senior center in the town where I stay at a lot has just started a wireless connection and I do have my AARP card since as a eunuch I just don't look like a senior although you probably really don't need a card and can go right in. I did have a weak signal at my Aunt's house but now it is no more but who knows about later on. There are hot spots in many different places for "free". You just have to find out from friends and experiment is all.

Anyway welcome back.
