Got an e-mail that said I needed to check in. I have absolutely nothing useful to say but apparently have been requested to say something anyway. So here it is.

The email says nothing about having to post. It just says sign in, so log in to eunuch.org once a year or I will delete you. Intended only as a heads up to our story readers who must register in order to get into the story archive, but who otherwise never come here.

If you logged in to your account, you're O.K. The message was sent to ALL registered members. Those who have registered for the sole purpose of reading the Fiction Archive still need to log in to the Bulletin Board at least once a year so that the automatic computer system doesn't kick them out.
We, of course, prefer it that people join in the conversation here, but just logging in meets the computer-directed requirement.

I received one sent to Rusty Dai. I'm not able to figure out why I cannot log in any longer, been here for years. I changed to RustyDai and it looks like I'm a newby. I haven't received that notice for RustyDai.

Perhaps my view of existence and what allows existence to exist is all wrong, and is so all wrong that I am rendered totally incapable of ever recognizing any hint of how wrong my view is.
Or not?
How would I ever be able to figure out that my view is all wrong if my view is totally all wrong and, being all wrong, prevents my ever knowing that?
The Eunuch Archive is, as I observed in person at the 2011 MoM (Meeting of Members), run by some very, very decent people who have more in their lives than the Eunuch Archive. It is my sense of reality that sending a reminder to everyone, whether being reminded is, or is not, of value to those reminded, is the best and most practical way to let folks know about the need to log in at least once a year in order to avoid being culled from the membership (meaning those who can post comments) people assortment.
For myself, I am profoundly grateful for the work of those who set up and continue to maintain the Archive.
And the following is a psychological science philosophical argument, and not some sort of religious tripe:
Throughout my whole life, I have observed that mercy, as a key component of social structure, points people toward a vastly more decent and life-valuing society than does hatred as the key component of social structure.
And, as an aspect of social psychology and sociology, I find that judgmentalisms are the entire substantial form and function of hatred.
Life happens. Learning happens. Why is that apparently not regarded as sufficient by some of us?
My personal response to that email message was a silent "Thank you!"
It did not come into my mind that the email was a criticism of any sort, and that has not yet come into my mind, nor do I find its ever doing so one iota plausible.
To the Archive administrators, I have now added a not so silent, "Thank you!"
