I saw it and liked it. Although, I thought it did suffer from excessive banter between Holmes and Watson. You have to listen to those English accents real close.

It is, if you stick through it just as intellectually, satisfyingly complex as all of Conan-Doyle makes Holmes. Moriarty is just as evil and cold-blooded. Big, noisy and action packed.

So I give it 4 stars out of 5.

I have herd lots of good things about this latest in the series of SH movies. I can't wait for it to come out on DVD so I can see it.

The BBC has produced a TV series called Sherlock, in which the stories have been given a modern setting.

I am not a big fan of 'Victorian' Sherlock, But I find the 'Modern' Sherlock very well acted and a very good way to spend am evening.

Just saw the Sherlock Holmes Flick last night. I enjoyed it, even if I could see the plot twists coming from a mile away. I was always four or five plot beats ahead of the story. I found the whole thing to be very Americanized. The action was tight though, the visuals interesting, and I liked all the characters. They treat Sherlock more like a superhero with special powers than the worlds greatest detective. Very good for a comic book superhero movie in my opinion.

The BBC series Sherlock is written in a vastly superior manner. It is a lot smarter, and it truly keeps me guessing. I'm very much looking forward to the next series (next season) of Sherlock.

Either property is good, but the TV series seems closer to what Doyle wrote, even if it is set in modern day England, instead of a period piece.

I meant no offense to my American friends. I DO mean offense to the American movie making machine that is Hollywood. If they want something to be a blockbuster, then they always strip out the more challenging and intellectual ideas from the films they produce. They don't seem to want to take a chance and possibly confuse the movie-going public with anything too heady.

Game of Shadows suffers from this a bit, but still manages to be clever and enjoyable to watch.

I honestly believe that had they been a bit more challenging and complex with the twists and turns, but kept up the action like they did, then this would go from simply a good movie, to a truly great movie.

LOL I knew that's what you meant, just thought I would pull your chain a bit. OBTW I totally agree with you, the last time Hollywood went out on a limb was the Sting.

Hey! Personally I consider Inception to be pretty damned convoluted, at least these days it is.

My local PBS station is showing the second season of Sherlock starting tomorrow. You might have difficulty finding it because it is listed as: Masterpiece Mystery!. When I search for "Sherlock" on zap2it or on my Dish DVR, I do not find the program.
