A few friend of mine surprised me with token gifts this year. It was thoughtfull and generous. It is the thought that touches me the most.

I got a flash drive for my computer. A nice warm sweater too.

One friend gave me a pair of earrings. They have a double-mars gay pride emblem on them. Very nice. I never discussed my sexual orientation with her, but she has sat next to me many times while I fixed her computer. I guess she saw the holes in my ears and figured it out. All this time I thought I was safe in the closet. All this time she thought it was just a given that I am gay. I will wear them often now.

I know that Christmas can be problematic, but I am enjoying the holiday anway.

I gave my brother (yes, I know he's 60 years old and a perpetual child) one of those remote control flying helicopters ...

He loved it. And everyone else had fun when ot flew around the house for about 15 minutes until the batteries wanted recharging.

I also got my niece shoes who wanted (What is it with women and shoes and boots and owning hundreds of pairs?

I got her husband food porn (food magazine called Lucky Peach) because he's a chef and loves that stuff.

I got a book. OK by me. Everybody was happy.

I walked out this morning and there was a gift bag hanging from my side mounted mirror. In it was a toy for Corky and an ornament for me of a beagle for the year 2011. Of all I received this was the best because of the thoughtfulness and the surprise.
