Siterone (Andorcur) or Depo Provera questions...

When I found EA it was a blessing. I had been looking for years (on and off) for info about lowering my sex drive, and have found a wealth of info all put together by some caring individuals. I have a similar story to many here, trying to control a sex drive thts been out of control since a very young age. My wife is with me 100%- Now to get on with it.......
I went to a doctor here in the US and I had blood work done T levels etc. He tried the anti-depressant with a mild estrogen pill. Nothing but frustration. I tried to show him my different choices Siterone and Depo-Provera but I dont think he was to keen on them. I went my own route and started on Siterone and Tamoxifen. And I am still taking the Celexa.
Had to really dig in on the amount at first, started off slow but had to eventually go up to 300 for a few days and then very slowly taper down to where I am at now 2x50 1 in morning and 1 at night (100mg total) of Siterone and 20mg of tamoxifen. It has been about two months so far.
I had CBC, Hepatic Function and Potassium blood work done after a month and everything is okay so far, I can get these done by myself for a good price. I didnt get my T levels done though.
I have the basic symptoms that I can live with, hot flashes, sweats, shortness of breath, and not very much energy (at all). My LIFE has changed 100% for the better, I am now the person that was trying to get out, all of these years. I am slower to act and my anger has gone way down. I feel very mellow and my wife loves the change. etc etc....... Just like alot of people here have mentioned.
My questions finally!! If the people here that have taken both Siterone and DP would let me know which they preferred. I think I am going to change to DP for several reasons. Price, ease of application and health risks.
I have been hearing that after taking Siterone some have been able to quit and there production of T basically has stopped. Is this the same with DP? And do you need to take Tamoxifen with DP to stop breast grow (since I am not looking for that)?
Thanks for all your stories........

I was on DP first based on selfmedication, had to stop due to liver issues (i guess) because i was and still am pretty confident i what i want I went to the docter to help me out, he gave me androcur (after a series of talks) i do take 50 mg a day and my T is nerarly zero, i have as good as nonoe side effect and are pretty happy with the result. DP is not used as he said in belgium due to the high risks of bloodclots in the legs.
i go now now on a montly visit to keep all other vallues withing normal ranges (liver, sugar, ....)
based on your story you seem to be quit sure on your goal as well, so i suggest go to a serious docter and do your story like i did.
it is a medical problem and they will surely give you the right treathment like they did with me
gret succes mate and dont do anything stupid "you might regret wat you wish for)

Thanks for advice, I was wondering if you knew for a fact that you had liver problems from the DP. I enjoy the results so far from the Siterone and I think I can get the dosage done to 50mg a day. But I was really thinking hard about changing soon to DP before I have to reorder my meds.
Any ADVICE would be appreciated!!!!

I believe both Depo-Provera and Siterone will add some load to your liver. Taking as little as 50 or 100 mg of Siterone doesn't really add much on a daily basis. That's the advantage of Depo-Provera, it's injectable and releases slowly into your bloodstream. Once your T levels are significantly down, a low maintenance dose of either presents negligible risk. It's strictly a matter of daily oral versus weekly injectable medication, and one price against the other.

Well I cannot address the question of which med since I've only used the Siterone. But perhaps I can pass on a bit of what I've learned about the Tamoxifen?
I've been attempting to achieve castrate T levels as a trial to surgical castration. Got most of the noted side effects except for the depression and I've been exactly the opposite; quite elated with the results of a drastically lower libido.
The side effects gradually wear off except for the fatigue which is best countered by excercise. The gynecomastia wasn't something I was too concerned about except that when it started occuring it was really quite uncomfortable and showed no signs of decreasing either the growth or the discomfort. I'd had my T levels checked at 200mg per day and it was right at the bottom of the acceptable range. Since I was interested in trying to achieve castrate levels, I increased the dose to 250mg per day and started taking 10mg per day of the Tamoxifen. The breast discomfort did drop off substantially, whatever was left of my libido went away as well as the rare semi-erections I was getting which was really what I had been looking for as part of this experiment.
About 10 days ago I went and had the whole (or most of it) works done on a blood work up. All the parameters were fine but my T level had gone up 30%. I started doing some research and found that Tamoxifen can increase T production by 150% according to most studies. It can also produce hot flashes which I'd been having again and that's a bit confusing as it's used to help control those.... The other side effects of headaches and insomnia were also in evidence. Almost everthing I read about using Tamoxifen in men indicated decreased libido and ED as side effects. In fact one study of men with breast cancer indicated that 20% of patients had discontinued the medication due to side effects.
So a week or so ago I discontinued the Tamoxifen. The insomnia is gone, the hot flashes are gone, no noticeable change in breast tenderness, but there is a bit of an increase in my libido as well.
I'm going to increase the Siterone dosage to 300mg per day for a few months before I confirm the appointment for the orchiectomy and see how low I can get my T levels and if I can get along with those side effects. One real downer when doing my research on Siterone (Cyprostat, Androcur etc.) is that alone it cannot achieve castrate T levels. Some guys here have been able to do so but as others have mentioned it's different for each of us in how we respond to hormonal medications.
Don't know if that'll help the Siterone vs. Depo question but thought you might be interested in my experience with the Tamoxifen at half the dosage you're taking.

I am trying to adjust the meds to my needs. I know that these drugs are strong, can be dangerous, and affect people differently. And I appreciate all your advice.
I was wondering what you all thought about this - If I change to DP my T levels are already down and I will be weening off of Siterone would I need 300mg of DP at first or should I possibly start with 150mg. I dont think there is any set rules but would like some advice on what you guys think...
Thanks again.... and I will read some more on DP in the forums.

Nothing wrong with that but there is a subtantial amount of information out there from the medical community on these drugs and various studies. You may not find exactly what you're looking for in the way of a comparison between the two meds, but you may also find out some things you hadn't thought about asking....

I was on dp for over three years then switched to siterone. My wife noticed that after each dp injection I was tired for a few days and we decided to take the daily siterone pills. My t-levels seem to me more steady on siterone without the monthly fatigue. I get regular liver-funtion tests and never had a reaction to either. Aside from the fatigue after each dp shot, the seem to work identically with me.
Good luck,
Don

Thanks to all.......
I have a lot to think about. My wife and I thought that maybe I would stay on Siterone and try and get it to 50mg a day and save some money and get my T levels checked (blood and early in the morning). Then (still want to do DP) when I change to DP I will have something to check against...
Some posts have mentioned that DP didnt lower the T levels as much as the Siterone did. And if that is the case I would just stay on the Siterone..
I would really like to take CA long enough so when I stop, my production of T has stopped too. T-less is good...
Thanks -J

Don,
Just wanted to double check... You feel about the same on either one, minus the tiredness after the injection of DP? How often were YOU taking the DP injections and how much of the Siterone are you now taking daily?
Glad things are going good, -J
