One really cannot underestimate the influence of drugs. A 34 year old man in Hong Kong was found with his legs covered in blood in his own home one morning. His father, a security guard in the residential building, discovered a puddle of blood in the stairwell. He followed the trail of blood, but only to lead himself home where he found his son bleeding severely at the groin. Without further delay, the father called the police.

The wounded man had allegedly cut off his own penis with a pair of 10-inch long scissors in the stairwell earlier that morning. He was immediately sent to the hospital, along with his genitals for surgical re-attachment. Perhaps the strangest thing was, when he was met with reporters, he merely gave a “thumbs-up” and did not appear in pain at all.

Although he is said to be a regular user of illegal substances, he was found to be “clean” at the time of the incident. However, it is possible that his habit has finally caught up and mentally impaired him, causing him to undertake this less-than-ordinary feat.

I clicked on it and it just took me to a "you tube watch later list" and none of the videos were at all related. I think we have a bad link here.

Well it works both ways. Certainly people with mental issues may gravitate towards drugs. But I definitely know people where were quite well adjusted who went off the deep end with years of addiction. The initial "weakness" is often just to have a thrill or to mellow out, then the addictive part sets in, then a spiral occurs as the drugs take priority in the life, then anguish sets in as the person realizes they are screwing up but they can't seem to help it, and so on. And eventually the brain chemicals simply become imbalanced as the person is always either partially high or partially withdrawn.
