Love of wine

I mentioned my love of wine in the thread about dogs and I know we have some knowledgeable folks regarding wine. My current passion is the Kir Royal that I first enjoyed in Paris. I use Chambord which is a black raspberry liqueur and a nice sparkling wine. My new favorite sparkling wine is from California a Roederer Estate Brut very nice as a sparkling wine and very good for Kir Royals. You can make a Kir which is Chambord with a white wine such as a Chablis. I also enjoy both the Veuve Clicquot Brut and the Moet & Chandon Imperial champagnes but not very often.

I like a variety of wines and I have recently enjoyed a wine from the Alsace region of France. Some German influence to that wine and the name escapes me at present. Red wines I like a nice Beaujolais Village from France and a couple of Shiraz's from Austrailia. A favorite white is the Pine Ridge Dijon Clone Chardonnay that I have not enjoyed in too long a time.

Of course as several know due to income I have Champagne tastes on an Old Milwaukee budget so most of my wine comes out of a box. Cheers to fermentation.

I've always enjoyed the buzz of a few bottles of wine shared with a like-minded friend, even moreso than drinking hard liquor. It's a warmer, more pleasant feeling. Last Friday, I received the gift of two bottles of 2010 Cabernet and Merlot from California. I was having a particularly bad day Friday afternoon, and would desperately have loved to enjoy one of those bottles, but alas, I had no corkscrew, nor other means to open them.
