What's with the fiction archive?

Post by blaud1969 (imported) »

When I click on a story link, quite often I get a messages that says "we don't know what this is." Then I get the login screen again. WTF?

I've had that happen but I just log in again and I get to the story.

And I logged out and went to the story archive and got in the first try.

Oh, I love computers.

It did happen a few days ago but not today.

I still haven't had any problems.

Not from my work computer. Not on my iPad. Not on my net-book. Never on my home computer. I have tried all kinds of browsers, and different computers. The only thing I don't have access to is an Apple computer, but I was guessing that was more-or-less like my iPad, again no problems.

What browsers are you using when you have the problems? I'm thinking it could be your settings, or maybe you have third party cookies turned off, and it can't verify that you are signed in.

More details might help.

I have the latest version of Firefox on a Mac with OSX 10.6.8

I logged into the fiction archive and typed "Z" on the author list, picked a story and got the login screen again, logged in, picked the "Z" again and picked a story and got to the story.

There was a pop up screen involved. I'm not sure when it popped or why it did.

TO me, it's merely a second or two delay but it repeated itself today.

It does it to me, too, on a hit and miss basis.

Just go with it.

Aggravating, yes. Critical? No.

Aha!

I've got it to do it to me too.

I used my netbook to access the site from work, where I don't have it bookmarked, and it happened to me.

I usually log in to the story site at eunuchworld.org when I use my bookmarks. No pop-up problem.

However, manually typing the www - dot before eunuchworld.org gave me the problem.

Okay. I cleared my cookies, closed the browser. I then reopened the browser and tried again, manually typing eunuchworld.org without putting the www - dot before it.

Guess what? No problem.

Try manually typing in the address, but skip the www - dot part of it. The site should open and work normally without any problems.

Let me know if this works for you.
