I have a theory that libido or lust energy is what causes obsessive compulsive disorder. What do you people think?

Yes, I think they're linked. Different psychologists and psychiatrists I've gone to have variously diagnosed me with paraphilia, hypersexuality, and OCD. Also interestingly, they all prescribe the same thing -- an SSRI (anti-depressant that elevates seratonin levels).

So I think the link is related to seratonin. It may also be linked to adrenaline, because I find a big part of the obsession is a period of time leading up to the act where I have an extreme adrenaline rush -- I am actually shaky, teeth even chattering, cold sweat, racing heartbeat. This is part of the reason I seek genital pain and castration -- it seems to give the biggest rush.

There is a complicated relationship between seratonin, testosterone, adrenaline, dopamine, endorphins and prolactin. I find that I only really feel I'm in control in three situations -- where my seratonin is managed by SSRIs, where my sex hormones are depressed, or where my prolactin is high.

I saw a documentary where this guy had chemical castration, and it healed his OCD. Since then I have read several posts here from people who said they were obsessive compulsive too. And in my own case, lust definitely seems to be the root cause of my OCD. If I could get rid of lust, OCD would vanish, i feel sure. When I feel lust free, i feel pretty much OCD free too.

To SplitDik, Yes lust can be a big thrill. But loving kindness is better. And when you find THAT, and your heart is at peace, it it doesn't matter how much of a perv you were before... because that loving kindess is better. I remember that movie 'dogma', with Jay and silent bob. Jay was SEX MAD, could NOT be satisfied. All he could think about or talk about was sex. But all it took was one kiss on the cheek from God (as played by alanis morisette) at the end of movie, to leave him all love blissed out and lust free lol. I think he even forgot he had a body lol.

Chemical castration lowering my T count to under 100 ng/dl + 20 mg Lexapro did wonders for me.

I believe there is a link. I have been diagnosed with OCD. I hate my sex drive and sexual compulsive behavior.

I've seen authors (like Kilmartin) suggest that general neuroticism positively correlates with libido. Or, neurotic people tend to have high sex drive. This is true in my case, though I have a high level of testosterone, too.

I'm mildly obsessive compulsive (hand-washer level, sometimes do this idiosyncratic shivering & making a disgusted face when I'm feeling gross). Being on anti-androgens has definitely helped. However, I'm not sure it directly counteracted OCD, or if not feeling the impulse to masturbate as much lessened the physical (genital-dislike) part of my gender dysphoria, which then made me less obsessive compulsive.

Just a thought, women who generally have much lower sexual drive, have muc less paraphilias, sexual offenders etc.

I read that when women take depo prover, it can actually trigger OCD, so maybe it's because it increases their libido, instead of the decreasing libido effect on men?
