Chatroom Etiquette

Given the sort of run-ins I've had in the chatroom of late, especially with many people who say hi and then immediately bombard you with personal questions, or worse, some who don't even bother saying hello, I found this post my owner made on her facebook quite timely and funny, so I thought I'd share it =)

Formulae for personal questions:

1. Your curiosity ≠ my obligation

2. What I share α∑ (my love + your usefulness)

I do understand, some people just don't live by any rules. Proper would be to ask you in the lobby if they can talk to you in private. But don't feel bad I get the same thing when I go in there, it is usually this,

Hi what are you in to?

I say Banning people who don't ask to pvt me first.

Even then some don't get it.

I can live with them not asking if they can pvt me first. Still this thread is just to share a humorous way my owner's come up with of formulising (formula-ing?) chatroom etquitte =)

I reply

"Lobby only until we know each other"

The Lobby is pretty good if an ops button pusher isn't . . . 🙄

Most spectacular is getting into, #ops# or something like that.

The illuminating brilliance of it all is overwhelming and leave me wanting more.

Sort of reminds me of Leeta's experience with Kosh.

:)

I burnt out on chat rooms back when I had an AMERICA ONLINE account in 1994,5,6,

I just refuse to do "chat" anymore because of that.

7) It is always polite to ask before sending a private message. If anyone has a problem with another person, please feel free to ask one of the moderators.

at a coffee house recently another parton was very pleased with himself that he had many hundreds of dollars in apps on his iPad without paying for any of it via nefarious means. I am sad to say I did not inquire why he had no compunctions at being a thief.

best,

markle

Actually I do not mind if someone pm's me directly without the obligatory greetings, permissions and small talk . It cuts down on typing. Since I am a slow typer I prefer to "just cut to the chase."

some of us would prefer to feel like a person than a mindless slab of meat, hopefully that is not too much to ask for. Then again if the extra couple of mins to be polite takes precedence over one's hurry to whack one out, then it does say a lot about what kind of person one is.

Every one has its own preferences about etiquette. Some give it very much importance and other not.

Yes. Some selfish people don't tend to care much about courtesy and manners. Your point would be?
