Just watched it.

DAMN!

The creators of that show sure know how to make a cliff hanger.

WARNING SPOILERS AHEAD!

I'll be very, very upset if those two young characters are gone from the show. If anything it was the family dynamics that kept me tuning in. If those two are gone for good, it will just be a drudging slog for survival with no hope for the future. I don't think it would be as interesting to watch. Having the kids in the show, gives the adults something to fight for that matters. The kids are the next generation of humanity the group is fighting to protect.

END SPOILERS

I hope I'm not giving away too much by saying that.

I can't wait for the next episode.

I will offer the "run for the bucket" spoiler.

Norman Reedus (Daryle the redneck) and Andrew Lincoln (Rick Grimes) get to "gut" a zombie.

If you're squeamish, don't look.

It was 105 deg F that day in the sun and the outttakes I saw after were grim and you could see cameramen and crew gagging. Good Effects!

IT was also 105 deg f on the days when they had to film under the cars on the highway. Talk about hot and sweaty, that wasn't acting.

I did not think that they could top the last season's stories. The first story from Season 1 with Morgan and Duane (the father and son who lost his wife to the zombies) was just harrowing as a story. It's rare that any monster/horror movie breaks my heart like that one did. This one has kept up the writing and the storylines.

As Season 2 episodes 1 go, this is one of the best. There is no let up. There is no viewer mercy. No freaky out of character humor or mugging for the camera. No cheesy.

BTW - I have seen minutes old deer in my yard. They do look like Disney's Bambi. I have been five feet from Deer as they wander around my house. It is magical to be that close. But the end of this story is just a mean and nasty thing to do to a viewer.

BTW- in an interview Andrew Lincoln uses his natural accent (British) which is so hysterical to hear after the great southern accent (Festus from Gunsmoke) he uses in the show.

EPISODE TWO...

One zombie dead and all character development as the civilization continues to fall apart. Big time drama.

And a really kick ass girl on horseback with a baseball bat.

SPOILER ALERT!!!

Well, the first thing I am going to say that like the comic book (which I have read since the beginning up until about two years ago) NO ONE IS SAFE!

that being said, the shooting of Karl is an accident, and they get him medical help pretty quickly. There are very compelling stories for the kids in the future. I would love to see how those play out.

There will, of course, be a divergence from the book to the tv series (as there is with the true blood/dexter/dresden files) so at some point, my "foreknowledge" will be much less accurate.

There's a program that follows called "TALKING DEAD" and on that they will not say if Carl (the son) lives or dies.

The TV version is already different from the books in that Daryl (Norman Reedus) is new and not in the books and Daryle seems to be the Swiss Army Knife of rednecks and all-purpose bad boys. He is way too friendly with guns and crossbows and killing. He's also (as the author and Norman says in interviews) a virgin and might jsut lose his virginity to one of the characters in the story. The character, not Norman himself.

I liked Zombieland. It was fun to watch and who can argue with zombie Bill Murray.

I also like the British one with Simon Pegg -- Shaun of the Dead. They treat the stupid jerk to pathetically badly and that's half the fun.

I also just saw DIARY OF THE DEAD which is a depression looking for a suicide. George ROmero strikes at the heart of hope once again.

You have to remember that when you see Romero's DAWN OF THE DEAD, I used to shop in that Mall and I get the giggles at the way they "rebuilt" the old Monroeville Mall (before renovation and convention center took its parking lots).

yea Diary is kinda depressing. Zombieland was real fun, Shaun of the Dead was more of a spoof than a zombie flick that does take the setting seriously. Personally the star of Zombieland was Woody Harrelson for me. That zombiekill of the week is so epic that I am sad no zombie apocalypse has befallen us yet.
