Erect no more??? How long is Depo to remain in system?

I have gone through the chemical castration process with depo about 4 months ago. Prior to this I would get erections constantly... now, I rarely get wood. Does anyone have any feedback or personal experiences with this that can give me the length of time it usually takes to return to 'normalcy'? I only took 3 shots... 2 at once, and then 1 a week later. I lost a lot of energy which I have now regained, but wondering if my erections will ever return; would be a huge blessing if this were permanent :)

I have other posts about my experience with depo out there, but I stopped mainly because the loss of energy was not worth the cure for my 'struggle'.

I was on DP for four separate periods in 2009 and 2010. In each case the drug took a few weeks after its peak to work its way out of my system so that I could (and wanted to) function fully again. I would say give it three months between your last injection and being more or less clear of it, perhaps longer if you were on it for a long while or took more than the standard 150ml dose.

While I find depo reduces my spontaneous erections a bit (I normally get erections just walking around the mall and such, which I don't with depo), I still get morning wood and don't have much issue if I receive sexual stimulation from my wife i.e. not actual erectile difficulty.

Anyway, the half-life of depo is supposedly about 50 days, so every month and a half you have half the amount in your system as you had previously. 150mL is considered to last 3 months for purposes of birth control in women, and since that is the time intended for guaranteed continuance of the effect that means that it is still potent at that period. So for a 150ml dose I would say it takes 200 days before it is below the level of significant effect. (200 days is 4 half-lifes meaning at that time you have 1/8th of the injected amount remaining in your system).

I actually dose 450ml, so for me that means I need to go to about 275 days.

Theoretically, once it is out of your system you return to "normal". However, it is not entirely proven that that is true. It is possible that after being suppressed for significant time that your Leydig cells and such never quite fully rebound.
