Is rerouting urethra necessary?

I hope this question won't offend transsexual females. I have nothing but respect for you. I ask this question for gay men who are "different" from others because I am one of them. However, I will appreciate your opinions.

I generally understand what is done in sex reassignment operation. But I have been think if rerouting a urethral opening is a must.

Assuming that a psychiatrist approves my decision to have surgery without chaning my birth gender, I wonder whether a skilled surgeon is able to do what I ask.

I realize that creating a clitoris and rerouting urethra is necessary for a transwoman because it will make her neovagina look real. But for me, I don't need a real vagina. What I want is a vaginal orifice. Do you think it is possible that my urethra can stay where it is? If it has to be rerouted, can it be higher than a female's urethra?

If you have your penis removed then you will want your urethra rerouted. Otherwise it will be difficult for you to urinate while sitting.

Can you elaborate? This statement sounds contradictory...

Thank you for your answer. If I understand you correctly, if I don't have my urethra rerouted, it will stay where my penis used to be (except that it is just a hole now, not a long tube), and I can't urinate while sitting. Is that what you mean? Well, honestly, that is no problem. As long as I can urinate, standing or sitting is not an issue.

Well, what I mean is that I want a sex organ that can function like a female vagina. I don't need it to look exactly like a vagina. A female's vagina has vaginal orifice close to the urethra, doesn't it? That is why most women have to sit down to urinate, right? Well, I don't need that. I don't intend to become a woman, so I don't need my urethra to be reroute lower. If it has to be rerouted, so be it. But if it doesn't have to be, well, that is good. I prefer urinate standing.

To be graphic: Without a reroute, If you pee standing up, urine will spray ALL OVER, including your clothing, the wall, the floor, and anything within 3 feet of your hole. If you pee sitting down, you will have no way to point the urine flow down, into the bowl, so it will spray all over the seat, the floor and your pants that are around your ankles.

Honestly, I enjoy my urethral relocation and am glad I had it done, even if I haven't had any part of my genitalia removed. Since you won't be able to pee standing once the penis is gone, I would recommend the relocation as it was the most thrilling experience for me when I had mine done.

Thank you. I understand your explanation. Sitting down to urinate is not a big deal to me because I have done that many times when the toilet seat is clean.

I hear that many females are able to urinate standing without causing a mess. I wonder how they are able to do that. There are a few times my urine doesn't come out as a stream; it sprays every direction. I don't understand how women are able to urinate standing.

Let's assume that the penis is kept where it is; only the scrotum skin is used to make the vagina. Then rerouting urethra is not necessary, is it?

Very much a cultural and not a physical thing. In most western societies boys are taught to direct there flow girls are not, yet with the correct training a girl can eject with force. In most cases the labia are no more of a problem than an uncircumcised penis. I have had two girl friend in the past who managed to pee standing. I assume if the residual skill is still there, you should have no problem. But how would you know until it is done?
