First time experience seeking Rx

I am wondering about members' experiences with a sex counselor, seeking help in controlling their sex drive.

I became very interested in this from learning about the experience of a cuckold husband whose wife took him to a female couselor in the Seattle area who had counseled many cuckold husbands (and had gained somewhat of a reputation for it) by referral and often prescribed chemical castration of various forms, to help the guys adapt to being cuckolded.

The counselor/PA prescribed Paxil for controling his "excessive masturbation." She gave him 40 mg a day and said she sometimes prescribes up to 60 mg for men to control their sexual impulses. He said that within three days he could not achive orgasm.

He said that it "seemed so strange to have that sexy woman counselor explaining how she was giving him a prescription that would stop him from being able to cum and reduce his sex drive. Then, later, to have her quiz me on how my sex drive and erections were going away was wild."

I am seeking this type experience, too. My masturbation--like his--is excessive as well, sometimes consuming many hours per day. I am going to see a sex therapist in the very near future and am very excited by the prospect that she will control my sex drive in the same way. But I am more than a bit anxious about meeting the counselor and having to describe that I need something to help control my libido. I guess I'm nervous that she won't be willing to give me the meds necessary to "slow me down."

Paxil has way too many possible side effects, please take my sincere advice and stay away from that dangerous drug.

Depo provera on the other hand, is simple, has side effects (like all medication), but the side effects are well known, and you can deal with the side effects of depo provera, paxil can leave you permanently f----d up.

Besides, paxil is a drug that is supposed to work on your mind and help you deal with depression, which does not seem to be your problem, so paxil is NOT the drug you need. Depo provera is used mostly for women to halt their menstral cycles, but the effect in men is to reduce the blood flow to the testicles and penis, and thereby cause a temporary and reversable chemical castration. That seems to be more the target you are shooting for, reduced sexual urges, and depo provera is exactly the drug for that.

Androcur is currently the drug of choice for chemical castration of men, but it is a LOT more expensive than depo provera. From what I have read of androcur, it takes a LOT longer to take effect, and has worse side effects than depo provera.

Well, it is your body, and your choice, but believe me, paxil is NOT the thing you want... I do very strongly suspect that many perscriptions for paxil are written NOT with the best interests of the patient in mind, but rather because paxil is being pushed (REALLY PUSHED HARD) on all the "mental healt care professionals" and some miracle cure for all sorts of mental problems, so this "female counselor in the Seattle area" is probably pushing paxil not because it is the best medicine for the patient, but it is the best medicine for someone's bank account.

Please at least read some of the extremely helpful threads here on depo provera and androcur, I am absolutely positive either one of these will be much better for your needs and health than paxil.
