Tyche the new 9th planet.

Feels like being told the new kitty/puppy replaces the one lost. :(

Tyche:

some ball of gas deeper and darker out there beyond the Pluto / Charon binary planet system!?

When is a ball of gas existing in or beyond the clouds of gas, becoming a planet and not just a dense cloud?

I want Pluto back respecting that it, and Earth / Moon are unique binary planet systems and more substantial then some dense, unseen vapor.

Moi, to some of us Pluto will always be the ninth planet, and this one if it turns out will be the tenth. ;)

If it exists, it's supposed to be at least as large as Jupiter, so if Jupiter is a planet, this would be one, too. It has not yet been determined that it exists, and many think it doesn't.

I always knew there was something out there beyond the known planets...

Or was that just the normal paranoia that we all have thinking about the dark?

I thought Pluto was Mickey's dog. 🎶

Mac, some of us are old school, Pluto is still the 9th planet.

Were it not for implacable tradition, would classifying the Earth and Moon as a binary planet, based on plausible origin notions and relative mass, be another way to get back to 9 planets without including Tyche or Pluto/Charon?

My decision, which has no vote with any powers that be, is to grant binary planet status to both Earth/Moon and Pluto/Charon. That would get us to eleven without needing Tyche.
