River

Happy Summer Solstice! Something bright in the DDC.

You are one of two I know to wish the greeting.

For years we have read about River, the Winter Solstice and his Yule Log.

How does River and other EA members only, celebrate.

Guesses. Suggestions. And River's sharing of course.

I would guess River starts drying out his Yule Log.

May the brightness of the Summer Solstice be uplifting thought out the year.

Yes tomorrow is the Summer Solstice, there will be a big celebration in the woods around a big fire were everybody dances and sings naked. Something you don't want to do at the winter solstice because you could freeze your balls off if you still had them.

Do the Girl Scouts participate, too?

...can we combine that merit badge with the one for mouth-to-mouth resuscitation?

:D

Yet we have no real idea of how these Solstices were celebrated.

All re creations are as fictional as a Passion Play.

Fire dancing sounds fun & helps global warming🙄.

Any food with that?

Mead the beverage of choice?

Moi, you have no idea, :D

Later tonight covens round the world will gather and celibate as its a holy day, like others it has special meanings for those who believe, non believers such as yourself could not begin to understand the deep meanings of such a gathering and I don't have the time or will to explain it to you.

Now if you will excuse me I must get my set up the alter and get my robes ready.

I do not diss your commitment to Ghia and such.

Sounds great to have a "community".

Only to say however the celebration as preformed lacks any continuity with those preformed even a thousand years ago. Unfortunately, the Druids did not write. Certainly, different peoples notices the Summer Solstice and celebrated (my birthday) accordingly.

For those not particularly familiar with ongoing Druid tradition(s), I offer the following web site:

http://rdna.info/basictenets.html

Does not every religious tradition, to continue its existence, adapt to changing circumstances?

How I came to know of the Reformed Druids of North America is a story for another place and time?

Aren't the reformed druids the ones that do bushes instead of trees?
