Apparently, a clot / thrombosis in his lungs delivered the final blow.
Whether or not you agreed with his position (assisted suicide), he was a leader and innovator who cared about his patients. Medical care has most definitely changed as a result of his efforts.
Maybe a few more urologic surgeons could follow his lead?

God rest his soul but I never like that man and I'm glad I don't have to hear from him anymore.
please note, he died of old age and not assisted suicide.

Jack two states have laws for assisted suicide and I think your efforts helped. I have witnessed people in such intense pain no pain meds would reduce the suffering. One time we had a young lady in the hospital who because she was young and her heart was strong she kept living in agonizing pain. We kept her on a special bed that used air currents and sand to keep her floating. She could not stand any pressure on her body. When we would lift her by a sheet to change the bed she would cry out. I always left her room in tears. Her heart would not stop and her body was rotting on the outside. She lived in that pain for far too long.

He helped Americans realize that keeping the body breathing and beating at all costs and quality of life is an issue for discussion.

If I remember right they (Michigan)had to try him several times to get a jury to convict him. What a shame they (Jesus Freaks)was allowed to do that to him as he was helping people who had nothing left for them.
To change a persons thinking they need to watch a person close to them die by the so called inch.Even then sometimes it would not do any good
I had the bad fortune to have a father with parkinsons and a mother in law with dementia, need I say more

I will tell you that I'm not a "Jesus Freak" and I do not believe in euthanasia or assisted suicide.
ANd It's not a matter I'm going to discuss. You and anyone else may do as they see fit but I will not do such a thing.

As long as it remains the individuals choice and cannot be decided by family or friends I think it must be discussed. If a patient is allowed to enter into a coma and cannot verbally request this for themselves I do not think assisted suicide is right. If they are in a coma and only being kept alive by machines and have no brain function then I think it is the family to make the decision to turn off the machines.
I hope you all have a living will and a DNR if yo do not wish to be coded and placed on a resuscitator. DNR/CC is do not resuscitate with comfort measures. Let me die and be comfortable while it happens. No one gets out of this life alive so be prepared.
Not discussing it helps no one.

Fine.
But, would you wish to legally deny others the option?
