Actually A-1, I kinda go the other way on this one -- I think that any woman who marries a rich, famous and/or powerful guy should assume that there will be sex outside of marriage. For many of those wives it is still worth it -- access to a very high lifestyle, lots of kids who will also get lots of money. A little bit of shame at some point is probably worth it.

The wives are just putting on a show for the public, and doing their exit where they get money and sympathy.

Do we know of any celebrities, rich guys or powerful guys that realistically don't do this sort of thing? Add to Moi's list the Tiger Woods, IMF guy, Charlie Sheen, lots of politicians like Sanford, etc. Basically these guys are used to getting what they want -- some do it semi-legit (i.e. an actual affair) but most are just using their power to get some.

Anyway, my point A-1 is I don't think they actually made a promise of fidelity to their wives. I think those wives were just willing to risk some shame, for the payoff.

As for why the guys get married at all, it's a good question. But for the politicians it seems to be a necessity. Also, to have kids it still is the standard "format" for a family unit, even if it falls apart by the time the kids are teenagers.

The only thing that I'm surprised about is how most of these guys have to pay for escorts or try to force themselves on some subserviant girl (staffer, maid, etc.) They may be alpha, but don't seem to have much "game". I'm pretty sure that if I was famous that the only payment I'd have to give to some ditzy young chick is "hey wanna go to a cool party?" or "wanna spend the day on my yaht?".

Like seeing Mel Gibson's difficulties with getting sex from his wife, and seeing how this IMF guy has to try to rape a maid, it actually makes me feel a lot better about my own abilities to attract women.

When you stand up there on the stage and look out at the audience

I would like to say that rich, famous or powerful guys who assume that their position gives them the authority to do as they please are not at heart deserving of being rich, being famous or being powerful.

They are deserving of taking to the streets with the common hookers. What is good for the goose, is good for the gander. A woman who tolerates such behavior is in danger of putting herself into the streets with the hookers.
