Gic ????
Well so far my Doctor has been amazing can't complain. However my Nurse who is from the mental health department (as I'm over 18) hasnt been good.
I have asked to talk to someone and all she can advise is to go to a self help group that is over 20 miles away.. Ugh.... and she does not reply to my emails.
Anyway gone back to the docs as I have only a few days meds left and no money to replace them... Last time I tried to come off I felt horrible realy ill and angry...
Isnt the nurse ment to refer you to a GIC???

I think I am dim because I was not sure what you meant by Gic. Now the NHS and I can think of several groups with those initials. You might get better responses if you write out what you are asking about.

Re: Gic ????
Yep sorry... didnt want to feel silly... Yep thats what i ment.. thank you...
I have been refered by my GP to see someone in the "Psycosexual" department in one months time. I know I can make do without meds but I have to say its hurting alot both physical and mentaly. I can see that my body does not like life with no meds and my brain is saying .. "Well whats up with this need for T then???" ... "what the hell are you playing at?" ... "you like being a girl."
People at work and in the general area are just getting used to me in a more feminine role and now its all getting screwed up.
I just hope that some good will come of this as it seems to be taking forever...
And lastly I get realy bad mood swings and shout/snap at my boyfriend who looks shocked as im not normaly like that...

Yes, but that would be typical for a woman, wouldn't it? Perhaps you're more successful at this than you previously thought.
Seriously, it sounds like the doctors are doing what they feel is correct for someone seeking care at a GIC, as you call it. Remember, you've felt like this for a very long time but they are just now getting to know you and establish a relationship with you and they have to start somewhere.
As for the nurses, if they are anything like we have here in the US, they cannot do more than refer you to self-help groups and the like because they are not doctors. The nurses you're encountering may be going beyond their scope as it is by making the referrals. You need to think of the medical community as a sort of quasi-military organization. Doctors are the officers, Nurses are the enlisted people. Doctors give orders, nurses follow them. If a doctor has not told the to do something, then nurses can't do it, no matter how correct they may be in their assessment of your situation or their desire to do so.
Nurses are likely only doing as they have been told to do by the doctors and are not being contrary to your goals simply for the sake of being contrary.
Again, I think you're going down the right path with the doctors, you simply need to exercise a bit of patience until they establish a relationship with you.

Re: Gic ????
Thank you for the kind words Losethem... I'm realy feeling low at the moment and its nice that you can help...
Cant say its been easy the last few days... I can't concentrate... the skin on my face has roughened up and my facial hair is reaserting itself...
My bf is being kind but I'm not sure how much more he can take of my snapping all the time...
My headakes have reapeared and I cant seem to spell properly anymore?!?!?
I find myself taking deep breaths when I feel woozy... all in all no "E" = "bad"
Sorry to go on so .. I keep feeling I should not feel so sorry for myself...
Well 25 days to go....

Re: Gic ????
im guessing you're not getting any help from the people here because they're American and not as familiar with the UK system.
I'm in the UK, but don't ask me. I'm not body dysmorphic and thus haven't bothered to medicalise me being me.

Re: Gic ????
When i meant help i mean, answer your specific-to-UK questions regarding the NHS and GIC.
In terms of broader areas about gender identity disorder, trans genderism etc, people here should be able to help, although always remember that not everyone may be giving the right information. Always crosscheck, but also remember that what may be the common medical concensus at the moment can also be wrong.
