Short term Androcur.

Post by vickitransgirl (imported) »

Ok... I know exactly what all of you are going to say. That this has been discussed to no end- and to just go read the posts right? Well..... i am over sifting through stuff for hour after hour. This is my first post after viewing and being a regular lurker on this site for many years.

My situation has recently changed and I would like some advice.

I am woking away in Thiland (I am from Melbourne-Australia) on a 6 week on and one week off cycle, flying home for one week's R&R, with my wife. I want desperately to try Androcur, but have read so much about having to slowly come off it- I am worried that I will do some damage by going cold turkey say a week before i fly home. In Thailand- you can buy Androcur and virtually anything else you want from hundreds of pharmacy's- so i can easily get what I want (NEED) in a matter of Minutes.

Any help/opinions/advice would be greatly appreciated.

My experience with Androcur is fairly limited. I was chemically castrated for a couple years using an injection of Depo Provera every 28 days and 100 mg/day of Spironolactone. This brought my testosterone level down to just under 100. My doctor wanted to do another T test in 3 months and if it was similar or lower, he would give us the option to remove my testicles. For a bit over the last month before the critical test, We took the Depo Provera at 14 day intervals and added 150 mg/day of Androcur (Siterone). A bottle of 100 50 mg tablets lasted 33 days, running out on the day of the test. My testosterone dropped to under 50 and my doctor said he would remove my non-functioning testes (he was unaware of my meds).

Anyway, I stopped the Androcur cold from a daily dose of 150 mg and had no issues. However I was only on it for a month so that may not be long enough to compare to people who have taken it for several years.

Thanks for the posts people. I too can not be bothered sifting through old threads for hours!

I am interested in trying out Androcur soon, and may in fact have this opportunity for the first time after I see my doctor this Friday. I have read that long term use can cause some people some long term harm, or just differences, such as reduced penis size for example. What about trying it for 6 months? I am not sure about a life without sex again, but still want to experience the 'eunuch calm' for a while. Basically I want either zero sex drive, or to be able to have a GOOD sex life - not an annoying in-between. I would have to talk about this to my current girlfriend before starting Androcur too, but I think that she would be okay with it. I want to have children in the future, and if I end up returning to a full sex drive, then I want to be able to do the business as well as I currently am :-)

Okay,

Thank you for the info.

My thoughts are as follows, and I invite any comments:

Start taking 50mg of Androcur in the morning and 50mg at night, for 5 weeks.

Then reduce the dose in the last week to 50mg per day.

Will this allow me to experience "close" to castration, and enable me to make a decision? In other words- is this long enough to experience truly the feeling of being a eunuch?

The more i read, the more i get frightened that there will be adverse medical problems i.e. blood clots etc. But the feeling just wont go away.... I want to try.

I've been taking 50 mg of Cyproterone daily for over a year. When my preferred date for orchiectomy got pushed back two months, I didn't want to order another supply from InHousePharmacy, so I backed off taking it. From previous experience, I knew I could go cold turkey for at least a week or two before the annoying spontaneous erections would re-occur. So I stopped for two weeks, then began taking 50 mg every other day.

We always remind people your individual physiology and metabolism is yours alone. While we're all very much similar, everyone is a unique individual. As such, we always remind people, Your Mileage May Vary (YMMV). I personally didn't have any real issues stopping, waiting, then restarting. Your experience might be different, but no one can tell you with 100% accuracy what to expect.

Good luck to you! :)

Many thanks for the replies.

I realise everyone is different..... and I am no exception, but I do know now that what I am thinking of doing is not entirely silly, crazy or just downright dangerous.

I plan on starting soon.... possibly as soon as 17 May. Androcur (and anything else) is just a short walk away, to the local Thai Pharmacy..... so any other suggestions are welcome.

Maybe Thailand is the best country in the world. As a male you can go there to have the best sex life (lots of cheap sex) or to have no sex drive at all (Androcur is available easily). There is none of life's annoying in-between!

i could not agree more. As a matter of fact- it is such a conundrum that I really do loose sleep over it! But it is a nice problem to have. On the one hand, I am surrounded by beautiful thai women ( and ladyboys), all willing to satisfy my "manly" needs- and on the other- easily available androcur, oestrogen or anything else to feminise me.

What am i to do???? Can anyone help?

I can't see having issues of going "cold turkey" but it may very well take much longer than you think for it's effects to wear off if you are getting your T as low as you want.

You also may not get a "eunuch calm", especially if you are on and off again with your T levels. I have found having low T far easier to handle by adding E to the system.

Okay.... well, I am really not sure what to do. I know this is not something to be taken lightly, but I have an opportunity and I don't want to waste it. Information from your posts like yours will eventually (I hope) help me make the decision.

I do wonder now though just how long it will take for things to get back to normal. After reading through other posts here, I understand that by adding E to my daily regimen will knock out unwanted erections more effectively. For many years I have wanted to take E because of my understanding of how it can feminise the male body.

I will keep you posted- either way (if I take the plunge or not) and will record progress (or lack of progress) daily.

Thankyou again.

vicki.
