Tough-talking SOPRANOS star DREA DE MATTEO has her Great Dane's testicles in a jar by her bed.

The actress couldn't bear the thought of her dog's genitals being tossed in the trash after his neutering operation, so she insisted on taking them home.

She says, "They're like eggs. I neutered him when he was five and that was his manhood. They were going to throw them in the garbage, so I brought a little thing of formaldehyde with me and put some blue food dye in it because he's a blue Great Dane."

Now that's a bad case of "blue balls".

Or consider the case of Drea de Matteo, who plays Adriana in The Sopranos. In April, she described to a reporter that when her dog Cyrus had to be castrated – for medical reasons – she performed the operation herself, unwilling to have him suffer a stranger's touch in such an intimate place. But knowing that his testicles had been important to him, she pickled them in a jar which now rests on her mantelpiece – so that "Cyrus knows they are there and not far away".

the weird thing is I can't tell if she did this out of care for her dog, or some kinky perverse interest on her part, or just for shock value.

Yeah, it's a little weird. Sounds as though she's in love with the dog. Medical reasons? What medical reason would require a dog to be castrated? Is there a human alternative?

So we are left with weird or shock value?
